Well about two years ago I had to manuever around some pretty big chunks of pipe or scrap metal on the road. Needless to say I ran over some gravel and ended up putting my front passenger rim into a curb. the alignment guys aligned it and my tire wear is normal I've had some nexen tires for about two years and they are all wearing evenly. The only thing is that the side I crashed on the rim looks like it sticks out more from the top than it does from the bottom, I guess you'd call it caster? Also it seems like the rim on the crashed side sticks out more than the driver side. I didn't mind it before because the tires would wear evenly but now that I'd getting new paint and new rims I'd like for it to look like the driver side rim which sits even straight up and down. Now I have put new struts all around konis to be exact so I doubt its a bent strut. What could be causing the rim to be like this? Could it be the control arm might be bent? Or maybe the whole knuckle or spindle or whatever u call it? Or maybe I bent the subframe? The impact was at about 15mph tops as the the metal on the road was on a turn so I was turning at the time but I can't really remember how fast I was going so 15mph would be worst case scenario I think. Also that side wears out wheel bearings about once a year since then. Any input on this? Since I'm finally going to be able to paint the car and have money to fix it I'd like to get this taken care of. Ill see if I can get some pics up loaded tomorow of the rim and how it sits, and input is appreciated thanks guys.
inward or outward tilt of the wheel at the top is camber. if it were that bad I'm sure the people who did the alignment would have made whatever corrections necessary, or at least told you what the problem was. maybe it's all in your head?
14.330 @ 96.37mph
wow... if i had to guess id say the subframe is tweaked.
I'm tired of wasting my time... now I'm breakin' free.
sucks thats not wat i wanted to hear.....how hard is it to change the subframe withthe motor in the car?
You could do it, I have replaced the frame on a couple lumina's before with the engine and tranny in it..
I don't imagine it being too difficult.
What's odd to me is that if you hit the passenger side I would have thought the subframe would have been tweaked towards the driver's side instead of everything shaded toward the passenger side.
No clue how that happened sucks I didn't really wanna replace the whole subframe
you would have to jack it up and take a look at the subframe and the control arm. but if i had to guess i would say sub frame. after the impact was the wheel cocked while going down the road ?
see ya!
nova wheels was cocked but it was mostly the rim, rims was gone i couldnt even have it in the back without the car going crazy
and sohardcore i was actually thinking of getting some spacers and just not using a spacer on that wheel lol
If you look
HERE, you're not the first with that problem...
actually once i saw that link silver i look at my friends stock 05 cav with eibach prokit and his is the same way
