brake shimmy/shake?

my front brakes shimmy/shake unbearably during light braking hard braking is nice and smooth though.

without actually pulling them off my rotors look/feel smooth. i have pulled the brake pads and there is plenty of pad and looks/feels smooth.

anything else i should look at?

like my prof says these are stock no drilled/slotted rotors and the pads are OEM replacements

Lateral runout caused by thickness variation.

you need new rotors... if you do them, may as well do all of it. pads are cheap, calipers are VERY cheap, and usually, if you buy all the parts, you can get a discount.
