Suspension install questions.
Wednesday, April 01, 2009 5:26 PM
So I've bought some dspecs and prokit springs. Hope to put them on within then next couple months. Problem is I work a lot and if I miss more then 1 day of work a week i'm out a lot of money. So my question is what type of install time am I looking at from say a dealer or local shop. Doing it myself is out of the question Also is there anything else I should replace while im doing the struts+springs?

Doing my suspension only took me a few hours of hard work in my garage. In a shop it shouldn't take them more than 2-3 hours depending on the shop and how busy they are.

Since you're doing your springs and struts and have it all apart it's a good time to replace your strut mounts especially if you're up there in miles.

Sounds like you got yourself a good setup there and are doing it right the first time. Enjoy!

Can I use new strut mounts from the dealership with this setup? Or do I gotta spend the extra cash to get the OEM one's?

You don't need to get them from the dealer. Auto Zone and similar places sell them for much cheaper. If you plan on keeping your car for a long time though, I would highly suggest investing the extra money in the OEM ones because they will outlast the stock mounts and will provide a much better ride. Just my .02 though.

Okay thanks I'm going to check at Napa tommorow.

Is 2-3 hours for struts+springs+mounts a good estimate like mentioned before?

With the correct tools and parts it should be no prob in that time, however something I forgot to mention is the car should be aligned after these parts are installed. This may take extra time.

I'm not positive on how long this may take, I don't work at a shop or anything, but if someone does and could chime in that would be great. Hope I helped...
