Getting ready to rebuild a 97 Pontiac Sunfire 2.4

Read the;

Suspension FAQ (05/22/2005)
http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=3&i=50260&t=50260

It says;

"1) 95-04 suspension components ARE interchangeable.

yes they are

meaning what you use for something on a 96, you can use on a 2003 or a 99 or a 97or 98. Many of you ask this over and over. the answer is here."

Just a quick clarification, does that mean that you can use anything for 95-04 Cavi / Sunfire - Base Model / GT / Z24 they are all the same? Or is it restricted to All SUNFIRES are one suspension and all CAVI's are another. The only reason I ask is because both of my local parts stores have different products available for the cavi, but they are not listed for the fire... Just another case of vendors not knowing what they have?

All 3rd gen Js have the same suspensions. So yes, cavalier parts will work on a sunfire.

True that all the suspensions are interchangable. However the lower end J's in the beginning did not have a front sway bar and only the ls in the later years had a rear "sway bar" welded in the swing arm.
