Recently I purchased some used Ground Controls on Koni Reds, and I need to order bearings for the fronts but after they arrived I set them in the top hat to find they were too small. I ordered the part numbers listed in Wild Wesaels write-up and double checked and they are right. So after doing a little research and thinking I have come to believe they had an older style top hat (which i have) and the part numbers are listed for the newer style.
I am hoping it is an older style and maybe someone will have some part numbers for me, or maybe some one can tell me what I even have. I believe it is the correct top hat as it fits the top coil perfectly.
I have pictures and I hope someone knows something as I am ready to get this together.
The smaller bearing on the right is the new one, and the larger on the right is an old one I found and pulled out of the top hat, that is the only I have found so far.
This is the top hat I have
And these are pictures I found of I guess what the top hat is supposed to look like.
I am on call this week and the nearest bearing supplier is outside of the area I can give proper response time to so it will be the weekend before I can go there if that is the problem.
Thanks for any help.
That last photo is from my install...haha
And yes, mine look like that, I have never seen the style that you have.
Very weird man, only thing i can think of is to add some washers or something to raise it up so you can use the bearings.
That or try and order some new top hats.
Yeah sorry I didn't ask for using the pic but thanks for trying to help. I will probably head to the bearing supply place this weekend, we will see.
Someone sold you a kit for a different car, I bet those go to a Nissan or Mazda or something.
Contact GC send them those pics, I bet they could tell you what it might be off of, and maybe what the differences in the kits are, and what you might need to make it work.
yea man that top hat looks nothing like the J one.
I keep forgetting I need at least one new bearing myself, it's been missing a couple/few wheels for a while now. On that note, my tophats are the taller design as well.

That's what mine look like.
