I installed my brakes the other day, they work awesome. Anyways, when doing the brakes I noticed that the hubs were shot. I go and get a set of replacement hubs and the studs are a totally different knurl size. I went from a 12mm to a 14.3. I have no idea why they made them bigger but I cant find any studs that are around 55mm long. ARP sells some but they run 100 for 10 studs. Any ideas on where to get some of the correct size?

hmmmm, sounds like you got the wrong/cheap hub units......perhaps rebuids or something. I would take them back and try again.
what exactly is the problem? The old studs are threaded the whole way and new ones are slightly longer with a smaller non threaded tip?
If thats the case its completely normal. GM changed the lug stud design to one less likely to get cross threaded. When I replaced a stud on my 04 with a GM replacement it had the extra length tip on it. When I questioned them about it the part had superseded to this new style.

been there, same thing when i had to replace one my 02 when i had it.
My car was made with wrenches, Not chopsticks.
No the difference is that, for some stupid reason, all of the aftermarket front hubs have bigger knurls on their studs. The knurl is the part that actually fits into the hub. The stud hole is physically larger on the new hubs to state it more clearly.
I had this same problem and had to replace my perfect condition $100 set of ARP studs with another $100 set with the bigger knurl. It is absolutely stupid. I tried 4 sets of hubs and they were all this way. Everything from $50 hubs to $150 hubs.

alright that just weird, I don't know why they would change that. The new hubs didn't come with lug studs?

They do but you know how weak they are. With as many times as I removed and install my wheels in one weekend of racing I tend to thrash them up frequently. It's just easier to go to a stronger stud like the ARPs. Plus they're long enough to meet specs for racing use.

^^^^ i take my whees/tires off quite a few times every summer for cleaning and im always worried about the studs becoming weak or over-stretched or hell just plain over-used....
how much longer are the ARP ones then stock? i mean will it make a noticeable difference while seeing the lug nuts sticking out further?
You look so much cuter with something in your mouth.

The ARPs I use are either 3.5 or 4 inches in length.
