I thought all drums had the adjusting ability to bring up the shoes to the drum, but I was told otherwise for Cavaliers.
Are they adjustable or not?

They are self-adjustable.
they are "self adjusting" but there is a star wheel.
All drums have some way of adjusting the clearance to the drum. Not all are star wheels, but most are.
i guess thats where the confusion is. i thought they were adjustable but then i was told they dont need adjusting.
