Rattle noise
Friday, November 07, 2008 4:31 PM
Last week I replaced both front and back struts and springs with the Tokico hp kit.
I also used new monroe strut mounts all around.
Ever since I installed them I get a rattle noise in the fronts, only going over bumps but goes away in turns.
I used aftermarket boot kit and bump stops, but I'm not crazy on how they fit once they were trimmed.
When I bounce the front end,I do get a noise almost like there is a little play between the mount and the spring.
I used the isolators, and everything seems assembled correctly. The top nut is tight.
I just had one of the struts out again, and when I compress them, there seems to be a little play.
What is everyone using for boot kits, stock or after market?
Because the stock ones actually sit in the mount itself, and the monroes have a different setup than original.
Can the sway bar links cause any odd noises?
I appreciate any suggestions, cuz I'm banging my head trying to figure this out.

anything can make a rattle noise. without seeing it i cant say for sure, but i can give you some things to look at.

#1 would be to try to tighten the top nut on the strut more.

#2, check your link pins as stated, they can make noise.

#3, what do you mean by "play" when compressed??

It's as tight as it can go

I will check these,do they make a creaking sound?

I'm not sure how the mount and the seat goes together. There is an angle on them, and I put the smallest part of the angle towards the steering knuckle. But I don't like how the coil spring sits. The pigtail part of the spring sits fine, but at the back it seems like there is a huge gap before the spring hits the seat/isolator.
Is there a special way the seat/isolator is installed??
