Good lowering package?
Tuesday, November 04, 2008 1:04 PM
I've got a 2005 2dr LS, and I'm trying to figure out what the best drop for my car would be. I just bought some 17" Konig wheels that are going on in the spring, which is when I plan to lower the car. I've read the Suspension FAQ and have learned a ton from it, but I've still got some questions. I live in western KY, and basically, a lot of the roads are God-awful in places, and I deal with inclines/declines and roadkill a lot. I want to go lower to get rid of the wheel gap, but no too low. What would everyone suggest for a drop? I'm thinking no more than 1.5-1.6"? Actually, I've been looking at some Suspension Tech 1.2" springs, or an Eibach Prokit (1.4"). I'm unsure about struts. Just looking for a good overall ride/handling package that isn't so low that I'll scrape everywhere I go. Any thoughts?

I'm on KYB AGX/ Prokit. Not too bad. Nice drop. I can fit about two fingers between my tire and fender. As far as the ride goes. My roads around here in PA blows, and so does the ride sometimes. But i think you gonna get a rougher ride with any lowering spring. The handling is great though.

eibach prokit and KYB AGX struts and your set, I forget what the drops are but they are in your range you want.

I think an adjustable setup might be nice for you, coils or air.

I figured I would get a rougher ride, but I don't want to feel like I'm driving a tater wagon. Will I be okay with the Prokit (1.4") drop on the AGX's? I was thinking KYB will warranty them up to a 1.5" drop, right?

I'll soon be selling my Goldline springs, Koni reds, fully assembled, and rear 22mm sway bar for $600 if you're interested.

Yep. They fall in nicely with the limitations of the AGX struts, making them the economical drop of choice. Any lower and you'll nee something else for struts.
