I am trying to buy a front strut tower brace for my ld9 98 cavalier. My ? is, does ecotec and 2.4's have the same tower brace? The reason I ask is because in the pic's they have the brace mounted with an eco engine, would that fit my style car? It say's " fits 95-01 cavalier's" and I dont want to buy something that isnt going to fit. THanks in advance. The url is

I have had problems with hood clearance and the cheap strut braces.
What is the specific name of vehicle I need to look for in the junk yard for the vert bar? And, does an eco cav and a 2.4 cav use the same strut bar? I would assume so, there is no difference in body styles correct? SO I think I should be good... I will check the salvage yard for the vert style first, but I think I am leaning more with this. If I have clearnace issue's, I will have to deal with that, you get what you pay for, eh?

another important ? I have is, do I have to mess with my alignment if I change my strut tower bar? I just had an alignment done like 3 days ago, and dont want to fork over the cash to have it done again...

just find a 3rd gen J-body that is a convertible and see if it has a sturt tower bar

chances of finding the var still on a vert if you can find a vert are slim. get an ebay one made for your year od cav, thats all, they should all fit though, i have a front strut bar on my 98 and 05, the one on the 05 had hood clearance issues but i just bent the rbacket for the ecu down and no problems now, they 98 fit like a glove no problem.

Check with PatsCavalier on the ClubCav forums in their classified section.
Pat has a dual firewall mount for sale and is the best strut bar you can buy for the J-body. It's the oem convertible strutbar so see if Pat is still selling the bar.
