I just installed a set of road magnets on the cav yesterday, and am trying to figure out how to stop the clunk on them. I was just curious if anyone else has figured out anything or not?

did you re-install the spring pads, the rubber pieces on the top and bottom?

I installed all the factory parts minus the struts and springs lol.

did you trim the bump stops?
Do you have spring insulators on the back?
Hehe dip the ends into rubber grip stuff for tools.
My sportlines have a clear rubber ends to no have that issue.

either that or try to find some thin rubber hose to fit around the ends.
also, post pics!

good call. still think sportlines would be better. your rear could stand to come down a tad to even it out.
i was going to guess a strut mount as well !
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
it's not just a strut mount issue, they don't have any sort of insulation to keep the springs from binding and making noise.

how are you keeping the tubing in place? just the spring holding it there?
If it stays in place, looks like a very nice solution.
Thats exactly what comes on the sport lines looks like.
The tubing won't go anywhere. I had to fight enough as it was to get it on the springs lol.

Looks like a good fix! Once I got my blown shock fixed, the only noise comes from the rear that was blown, thinking the spring was f'd from taking weight so long. If I ever get the ambition to fix it... ah hell... If it comes off, I'm probably selling
But is is nice to see that there's a "simple" fix to the clunk. I think I'm lucky there's no clunk for me, although over lotsa other noise
Lookin good!
How do you like them so far?
they're not bad, just a lil high in the rear end.

compare them to the numerous other springs you've had on that car. what's better / worse

These are by far the best I've had out of Sprint, Sportlines, H&R's. Nice balance of handling and comfort, just wish the rear end sat a lil lower, we'll see if they settle down any.

They will settle down a little bit more, there is a recognizable difference from the day I put em on and today (almost two years later). I felt the same as you do now, but today I couldn't be happier with the stance.
The day they went on:
Couple days ago, almost two years later:
I edited the pics a little bit so you can see the wheel gap better, they usually aren't that bright...
Do you have anything in the trunk that adds weight like a speaker box?

No not in either of those pics, now I do though

So did you get rid of clunk?
Did this happen with H&Rs?
Opinion on H&R vs. Road Magnet for handling? for ride?

Im my opinion the road magnets and the H&R's are comparable, other than the fact that the road magnets sit alot lower. I enjoyed both, but I just wanted more of a drop and the road magnets give you that drop.
I did also get rid of the clunk.
