My first post. i feel butt stupid, but I need help.
Front Strut mounts. Monroe
KYB GR2
AG KIT Lowering Springs. 1.6 advertised drop
How do you get the bearing set to stay in place while installing? I have made 5 attempts at the install and the bearing and metal washer just drops through the center the center of the spring. Also this angle on the mount confuses me..
Every thing is new. I mean everything. Lower control arm, ball joint, tie rod end, and the rods themselves. Bushing....everything.
What is the exact specific order in which the strut mount assembly in constructed? I mean detailed. I picture from anyone is worth 1,000,000 words.
Which way does the bearing rest on the mount, white plastic side up facing the upper mount or down facing the spring?
I need this explained to me like a four year old.
As mentioned a detail close picture would be the best help I can get. If I see it, I can do it.
This vehicle was purchased with the dropzone coil over install. The reason for the destroyed front end. I don't have a visual to get an idea of how this assembly goes together.

thanks in advance for you patience and cooperation.

Which way does the bearing rest on the mount, white plastic side up facing the upper mount or down facing the spring? Where exactly does the metal washer go. Biggest question, how does the bearing do their job and not rest on the spring itself.

this makes me think I got the wrong springs. However, I was assured that these are the spring for this application.

get ready to replace those struts in about 6 months

Probably, by that time I will have decided if I truly want to go low. If so, the Bilstein and Tenzo is the way I will be going. But I have to feel this low ride for a while.
I did manage to figure out what I was doing wrong and did the install.
For those who are interested. The TOP SPRING SEAT is discontinued from GM. Part no longer available. Aftermarket will be you only source.
Update:
The drop is nice. 1.6" all around advertised. And it give that. The ride is not firm but not loose either. I needed something to travel the roads and still give a low effect. I would post a picture if I can figure out how.
I don't race, the work being done is strictly for looks. This is going and will be the daily driver.
Since people discuss their cars here. Bought this two years ago from a local amateur tuner kid. Destroyed front end. Couldn't even drive the car home, had to tow it. Four Door. LS 2.4L. He installed this engine like a month before the front end quit. Reputable yard engine with 24K. EissBrother is the local reputable yard.
I
completely rebuilt the entire front end. From the transmission seals, to the lower control arms to the nut that hold the struts in place. Nothing from the original system exist. Even the knuckle and transaxles. Drive straight and narrow now.
I went with the AG Kit spring and KYB GR2 damper. Since every thing is new it's like being installed on a new vehicle. This is the try out. I don't know if I am going to like a low ride yet. The present system costs me a total of $240.
Once things was installed I loaded the family: wife, daughter, and son and went down some very bumpy roads. This is my normal load when school is in. The car handle fine. Did not bottom out, no strange rubs, felt like the stock system.
I wouldn't not recommend this setup for the enthusiast. There is some body roll in hard turns. I could us another sway bar. I do recommend this for those who live in areas where the road are not that good, and still want a low effect and drivable. This will give a more tune feel to steering.
I figure I would update my original question.

The system is still installed and is performing without any hitches. The ride quality is stiffer. It's not bad at all really. This combination is working for me.

yes it's workin for now. I can bet after winter it won't be the same
that's a possibility, it may not last. Winter here will be a good test for sure.

So just recently GM discontinued the spring seat. Do you mean the rubber seat or the front mount part? Just curious because I am about to rebuild the front like you did.
The proper way of using the word seen. It is not I seen it that would be I saw it. He has seen the car is the right way to use the word. English class is Cool. By the way thats my sig
The rubber seat. Top Spring Seat will the the name of the part you will be looking for. I ordered mine online and they are KYB. The instruction available as I received in the the mount package. Number 4 is the part you will be looking for. The local autozone or the like will be able to access one for you.

Use this picture and the actual strut assembly for details. It's not difficult. You will need a spring compressor. if you are junk yard savvy you won't. Take the safer road if you have not done this before. Removal from car is very simple. And the joints come apart with some effort. They will pop out.

I had the same problem, but I can't find a spring seat or an insulator for the '97 cav. so I was thinking to order a mounting kit with the spring seat included but for a 99-05 model.since they are interchangeable, I can do this, right? I gonna be ordering kyb set. They will mount on a 97 right? thanks...
you can use any mounts for 95-05 on any 95-05 strut
Yes, you can use all struts through those years...
I changed out the shocks in the rear. I chose the Tokico HP Blue. I like them better than the GR2. Now that I have been riding on this system for a few months now. I do like it low. Given the roads I am on, this is drop is far enough. AG Kit lowering springs from ebay and Tokico HP is an acceptable combination that can be considered for a budget system. I also changed out all the busing for Poly. Much nicer ride with this upgrade.
