Hello again JBO, you might remember my previous post about some very strange pad wear I had where it wore out on an angle from taking my corners....
So anyways, I regreased the pins, got some new pads, turned the rotors, and thought all would be well, however there is a new problem.
Instead of it rubbing off at an angle, it is now wearing off the entire braking surface on the outside of the disc, with barely any wear on the inside, although it has to be doing some because the braking surface is clean, and not rusted over. I am at a loss here, it seems I am going to need to do an entire rebuild of the front brakes on the left side, or maybe just buy a Wilwood set. Which would be cheaper, new calipers (left and right, because I am guessing the right side will come with time...) new rotors and pads, or just buying the WilWood upgrade?
^^^ ive never bought calipers before, are they really over $100 each??
the stock replacement pads are like $15 a side and the rotors are like each $12 IIRC...
Last calipers I bought where $15 per side

15 a side sounds awful cheap for a whole caliper considering screws for my door trim were $7 each (at GM of course)...
and I would be purchasing Hawk HPS pads, so definitely not 15 for a set of pads.

exactly. calipers are real cheap for our cars. i'm sorry, but i would not trust $15 brake pads to stop when i really needed them to. rotors are closer to $25-50 each depending on brand/location. hoses are hoses and as such are less than $10 each.

can someone please tell me what the stock size of the rotors are on our cars? I am going to do a little looking but I noticed JBP has a 9.5" and a 10" disc or something like that, and I am a little confused.
well I managed to get my pads ordered (Hawk HPS) for 50 dollars, its very nice to have a discount. And I am going to find a left side caliper at GM, which happens to be 55 dollars. Now I just need to find some rotors...

Is anyone sure of this? I don't have a my jack, torque wrench or sockets with me at this house, so its hard for me to check it out. I don't want to buy the wrong size discs :/
I had angled wear on my pads and both my wheel bearings were shot. They were so loose you could shake the tire with 2 fingers on either edge of it
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

10K PB: 54:26
well why wheel bearings look fine to me, however I am no professional. I am really hoping that isn't what it is, because if thats the thing wrong with it, I am up doo-doo creek without a paddle. (AKA money)
how many miles are on your pads?? remember, the outer pad is thinner out of the box.

I changed them 5k ago and it is already down to squealing metal. Hows that for wear. No I don't ride the brakes, because my right side is just fine
i would get new calipers, hoses, and hardware.
