I was looking at my engine bay last night trying to figure out where I was gonna run a 3 inch dowpipe from my turbo. The only place I can figure is under the brake booster, but there isnt too much room under there. I have seen on mini trucks when they cut out the firewall to tuck big rims, they swap to a smaller brake booster. I was thinking of doing this, maybe a Chevy sprint or something small like this. Would this be big enough for me? Keep in mind that I will be using Willwood front and SSBC rear brakes aswell.

Are you planning on running some type of vacuum storage along with this, or would that not be necessary?
i know you can do it just dont know which ones will fit. as you said you ask any mini trucker with a s10 on 20's laying frame and they will tell you they changed the brake booster.
but basicly find one that will bolt up and test it. only thing you will lose if its to small is the time to take it apart again
Switch to a hydraulic booster. They can be had on some Astro vans, and some mid size early 90s GM cars. It runs off your PS pump, and is no bigger in diameter than the MC. No worries about enough assist either, since you can change the orifice to suit your setup.

Thats not a bad idea, although I priced out a hydraulic booster for a customer the other day for an astro and i just about @!#$ myself.
In terms of the smaller brake booster, I know a few that will bolt in, Im just wondering if it will be enough when I have 4 wheel disc.
Hydroboost may be a tough conversion....but it would solve the problem. Would you need to swap p/s pumps, or just the hose configuration so that it will feed the booster??
You would definetely need different hoses, or at least different fittings. I'm not sure how the system is set up, but I would assume you could tee off the lines to supply it. You'd probably have to check pump output volume and compare it the Astro pump and see if it can handle it. If not, you may be able to find another pump that would work. I don't see why the stock J pump wouldn't.
Its not a j-body pump, my car is a 3800 turbo.
In that case, it shouldn't be a problem at all, since some of the early 90s mid size cars had the 3800 and the hydro booster.
Well, incase anybody wants to do this, here is your answer.
I called the person that rebuilds brake masters and boosters for my work and he said this.
Even with the big brake upgrade, I can switch to a smaller brake booster as long as the master is big enough. He told me that a Chevette brake booster bolts right in and is smaller. So now I just gotta head to the wreckers and pick one up.
