5x115 in rear brake setup??
Thursday, May 01, 2008 12:18 AM
I just swapped the NWF setup into the front of my car and it is pretty awesome!! I am wanting to swap something disc and 5x114 (115) into the rear.. what would be a good route to go? I see the neon setup and started researching what thy do for upgrades, looks like they use daytona brakes and certain models had 11" discs, which would be sweet but I think it is still 5x100.

What vehicle would be a pretty good swap without going to IRS?

Currently, there is no known setup to switch your bolt pattern without doing IRS. The only thing to do would be to make a new mounting plate for your axle to mount another vehicle's hub and caliper on (check out John Beers G6 disc break thread--you'd be doing similar work to the axle, but to mount everything, not just the caliper), but that's going to be a lot of work, when you could do the IRS swap and get more benefit than just the discs and bolt pattern.

Note that 5x114.7 != 5x115. Very close... but not the same thing.

yah, thats why I put it in brackets, I am happy with either. The 12" up front look great, but the drums in the back look funny. I might head down to the wrecker today and see what I can come up with. I will keep you posted if I find something interesting.

well spent 4 hours at the autowrecker today, and it looks like the IRS setup might be the best way to go. What I could do is make some stupid clear instructions and brackets so people can see what I have done.

Might as well be. Even with G8 studs your just under the endurance limit which leaves you with ~100k miles on 1 set of lugs and that using a factor of safety of 2.5. So upgrade to ARP lugs and never worry about it again basically, I'd have to check the specs and see if that would throw it into the endurance limit before someone take me serious on that one.
