There probably aren't a ton of us with Road Magnets out there, but this is driving me nuts. I've had these on with Dspecs since late November & they don't have a ton of miles on them, but since it settled, the knock is insane. It's a clunk/knock/rattle at the rear driver's side. It's so loud, it's embarassing. I read that there is some sort of knock with these, but I wonder if mine is normal. It makes a clunk whenever I hit something like a utility cover or a patch in the road. If it's a bunch of bumps, like near a light, it knocks with every....single....bump. Not so much noise on a highway with seams in the road, but I'd say anywhere up to 45 or 50 mph will make noise. Anyone have a clue of what might be going on?
Possible the coils of the spring are hitting under compression?
It's a common thing with these. They are supposed to be developing something to keep them from making the noise.

Not so sure that would be it. It sounds more like something is loose and shaking around, the bumps just encourage whatever it is to shift and make the sound.
it is very common for these springs to clunk. they dont have a rubber coating on the ends of them like the sportlines or other springs do. last i heard, i believe they were suppost to be making something to help with the noise, but i havnt heard anything else

i have a noise coming from somewhere behind me, don't think it is the springs though (its more of a high pitched tinging, like metal hitting metal in the trunk/rear deck). the only noise mine make is an occasional squeaking. can't really say that i've ever noticed a continuous "knocking" noise.
^^^^^^My stock spring made a high pitched "ting" when it broke. I would check to make sure none are broken.
it may be something with the mount. the easystreet kit has the same problem. although they did come out with a new mount on their newer suspensions so i dont know if it fixed the problem.
My rears got new mounts when they went on. They might be lucky to have 1000 miles on them.

I have had my easystreets on for about a month and the rears are "knocking".
If the car didn't look so sexy with them on, I woulda taken them off by now. With everyone being outside now that it's warm, it's so embarassing. People turn & look because they hear the knocking before they see the car
With the window open it's twice as loud inside too.
^Noise is the only problem I have with mine. I am with you, I hate having my car squeak or something when people are around. Its not as bad as it used to be, but without music playing it does get annoying. That is currently the reason why I am thinkin about movin up to tein ss's.
I got a knocking noise on the silver cav, I never knew that was a problem with the RM's I figured that it was a strut mount.......I'll investigate more this weekend on when I have time to lift the car up on stands......maybe I'll sell them and get some GC's or swap them for the teins off the red cav.
If you figure anything out, please give an update! I'm sick of people giving me looks like I'm driving a broken car
its different springs, but when i was installing my gold lines, i remember their website saying that the springs could knock by the coils touching. they suggested getting this spring coil wrap thing and sliding it on the coils so when the touched/banged together, it wouldnt make any noise. fortunately, mine dont do that.

TEIN SS have absolutly no spring knocking noises (or any noise problems). When I had bg lowering springs on stock struts the front and rear springs would hit each other and make an annoying knocking sound. So I took them out.
I looked at the mounts this past weekend and they look ok.....so I might put my tein s-techs on untill I have enough saved up for the tein ss coil overs.....
Has anyone tried picking up rubber hose from home depot or lowes and putting it on the tops and bottom of the springs? I think that'll help cure the knock you hearing.

sounds like poor engineering to me. get different springs

It's the same thing that the eibach sportlines have, it's a clear rubber hose that goes around the coils.

well...I hit a pot hole on the way home from work and the right rear mount is fubar.....so I'm going to take a mount off the red cav and throw it on the silver cav....If i have some rubber tubing/hose in the garage If i can get some to fit I will install it and let you know how the car does on the trip to michigan this weekend as I'm visiting a friend and plan on auto x on sunday as well.

Keep in mind its on Koni's... you need to drill the rear mount out to 1/2"
The road magnets always clunked for me untill I had the weight of the stereo in the trunk, they cured the clunk 100% completely.

I've had stereo weight there the whole time, wish it prevented it!
