basically if you pleasure of knowing your struts are new ( especially if you are running over 75K )
and the ability to adjust your ride height for coilovers
springs will just give some drop and a little better handling
tho im sure someone else will say different
i suppose you could get new struts and then buy springs but you wouldnt have the ability to adjust the suspension

What you have read is that the cheap e-bay coilovers are crap.

Coilovers are no question better then springs

how much are you looking to pay?
cause i would suggest the 1500 for the tein SS Damper Kit
but you could always go with their basic coil kit
but if i had to choose i would go with koni

Good point some kits dont adjust as much as others
i do believe the tein kit goes as low as 3in for the cavs but i'm not sure
dont quote me on that

Your best bet (high quailty, nice ride, cost effective) is to get Koni yellows or Tockico D-Specs with Ground Control coilovers. But as with any other setup, if you ride around completely slammed you will destroy the struts in no time. The D-specs and yellows are the ONLY struts they make for j-bodies that are meant to handle a drop and warrantied past 1.5" drop, they will warranty any drop so long as its not abuse (riding slammed bottoming out the struts all the time)

Keep in mind with the Konis the rear strut mounts need the center hole drilled out to 1/2 inch

Re: springs or coilovers

yea either koni yellows like darkstar suggested or tein are the only good setups that are solid that i know of

your only as good as the suspension you use just like a chain is as only good as the weakest link. the strut while they are discountinued and a pain in the ass to adjust they are still good. your choice of coilovers on the other hand suck. this is where people get the bad impression on coilovers because they go and spend only like a 100 bucks tops on coilovers. the only company that makes good coilovers for our cars is ground control. tein makes great assembled coils but they are pricey.

it doesnt matter that you have 18's. technically you should have the same dia. wheel &tire combo as stock to keep your speedo correct.

you also dont need a 3" drop to get rid of the gap. i have the eibach pro kit which is only 1.4" drop and it looks good

I just put on kyb agxs and the eibach pro kit on and i really like the drop. I too have 18's and it drops it just enough to get rid of the crazy wheel gap but it still rides nice from what i can tell from the little bit i drove it last nite. It was firm but not rock hard. Once the suspension settles in ill be really happy with it.
