i have a cavalier and im looking into going air ride. and ive looked at alot f you guys setups and im wondering why your not using bags. Is there something about the cavalier that makes bags unsuitable or do cylinders and struts work better with our cars. i would like to do a bag setup but dont know how this is set up.
can anyone post pics of how your bags are mounted to the car in both places if there is anyone using bags?
you have to use a STRUT/BAG on the front of our cars. Some have done only bags on the rear.
to my knowledge no one has done a front bag setup basicly cuz its alot of work and no one wants to do it. its just way easier to run strut bags like everyone says. and heres a pic of my rear bag setup.
Yellow22 Why didnt you keep the factory struts on without the coils for the ride comfort in the rear? seems to me like the bags would be slightly boucy depending on the PSI in the bags. or does it not make any difference?
he couldnt go as low with them on its just like using air struts the struts bottom out before the bag he gets about 1/2 inch lower i believe
yea i get lower and if i left the stock strut in there i would go as low. i will be putting a shock in there where the factory strut went on the axle and just make a custom upper mount somewhere. but money is tight lately so i havent done it
and personally i have an idea for the front to run re7s alone but money is tight all i need are the bags and it should be ready to make them and i will get low up front and at least 8 inchs of lift up front
are you going to run a dual a arm setup. thats bout the only way i can think of it and i have talked to a few others that also said thats the probaly the most easy way to do it
nope im going to try and work on making part of it and hopefully buy my re7s next week when i get it done ill show you how its made
okay when you have strutbags/bags up front is there any alignment? im sick of riding around with my sterring wheel a eigth turn to the left to drive straight. or do u just memorize the PSI in the bag when its in line?

not sure i understand what you're asking......... as far as knowing PSI in the bags, most of us use gauges and have apreferred ride height/PSI we like to ride at
from your issue, it sounds like you dont have gauges and are felling your level
and it sounds kind of like you need an alignment (coming from experience)
with strut bags you can go get an alignment but it wont be perfect dead on but it will be pretty close
what im asking is, doesnt the alignment change when you air out or air up?
yellow22. How did u get the front to layout so nicely. Most js on air around here are too damn busy to talk to anyone with questions or not layed out nicely like yours.
yea the alignment changes and basicly you can never have that perfect alignment again because you are always at different psi's in the bags. even though your gauge woud say 40psi it could be off just a lil from when you had it aligned at that psi.
as for getting mine to lay out all i did is run a smaller tire and rolled the pinch weld on the top of the wheel well and i also beat out where ever the tire hit. so all i did was make clearance so when the strut was bottomed out i could roll at 0 psi all the way around but i still drag stuff like my side skirts a lil exhaust and what not. if i didnt have drag blocks on there it would be about a 1/4" lower maybe.
or you could just cut out the fronts like i did but i was on stockers
do you have any pics or a project thread from when you tubbed your rear to lay out?
so you still have a back seat and what did u do to make everything to fit back in the car?
for my front i have an idea for a bag setup. the top of the bag will be mounted to a soild a arm so you see what im saying?
ill have to do a little measuring and what not but i think this will work. as far as lift i dont know yet but will see.
as you can probally tell i have alot of questions. sorry about that and thank you very much for answering what you have.
most deuche bags end up just telling me im doing everything wrong and it will never work so i really appreciate the time u take to answer my questions

just so you know when you say stuff like that most guys do get that attitude you just have to give people time to answer and ignoer the bs.
but anyways i dont have progress pics of the tubs but i have pics finished. they will be getting redone for new rims soon and i will be using trailer fenders this time. with the size they are now the panels just fit the tubs rub and the seat wedges in there tight. so i dont know what im gonna do this time around cuz i probally have to make them wider and taller. but i will most likely be extending my axle for the new rims so we will see what happens
Andrew those tubs are so gay just kidding...maybe with my tax return coming soon ill have 600 cash coming your way if you stillw ant it...you know what im talking about.
Oh and yea, most people wont help if you dont give it time. I would have helped but I havent started my rear set up yet and I Dont know what ill do about the front
oh yea. they havent gone anywhere yet and will be getting a nice polish as soon as this nasty snow and rain goes away. i havent seen a dry road for about 2 weeks lol
yeah your probally right about what i said.
so the seat doesnt fit the way it used to?
when i had my alignment done i had them align at ride height then check the alignment with the bags full and the bags empty. they said that from empty to full the camber changed slightly (not enough to worry about) and the toe didn't change enough to even measure. i will say that i'm not going as low as some of you are tho, basically as low as i can get on stock wheels with rolled fenders
