ok i bought a 99 sunfire with the 2200 auto. Well when i got it the the abs and the red brake light was on and when u hit the brakes the rears would lock with the slightest pressure. Well i took the drums off and looked fine so i had it scanned and i don't remember the code being it was a few months ago. I don't think it was any of the speed sensors but i know it could have been a few things and i remember one of them was the abs control module. Well i tore it apart again and found some broken springs so i changes the springs, shoes and drums and after i did with not hitting the brakes more than 5 times the lights stayed off. but cam right back on but no grabbing. But now when first taking off trying to slow down the back right wheel will lock up at first and afterwards won't lock up but still grabs before the rest squatting the whole right side. The brakes are on right i am positive. Also if i go down the road while moving shut the car off and start it up the lights stay off until stopped and shut off. also if u put your foot on the brake while starting the lights stay off and there is a clunk clunk noise come from like under the dash i guess the abs but once u move it will clunk clunk again and the lights are on. also if starting without pushing brakes they come right on. i'm going to clean the sensors after while but i need some help.... i can't swap in the boosted 2.4 till i fix the brakes.... o i also have a 96 z-24 vert for parts if i could use something off of it but it's 5 speed.. thanks
what it sound like is you have air in the break line that would explain why the break/breaks are "grabbing" as far as the light take the car to a mechanic and have all the breaks done and have the code reflashed
the clunking noise comming from the dash i would assume the the break booster/break master cylinder sits directly in front of the steering wheel
my car doesthe same. it too is a 99 with the 2200. the rr wheel locks up, the abs light is the only one on thou. i will go bleed the lines in the rear and try it, if not ill bleed up at theabs unit. any other ideas?

My right rear brakes lock up like that when it's raining or wet outside.
I'd guess that the brakes are grabbing/ locking because the abs light is on therefore the abs is not working at all. They lock because they are trying to behave like normal non abs brakes The control module code is probably most of your problem and not something mechanical. Just some guesses...
