powder coating calipers

I just purchased a IRS from a bone yard for an unbelieveable price (came with new wheel bearings, calipers, came with OEM ABS harness, etc... only thing i really need to do is get new pads amd rotors and i could run this set up on the same car ...

But anyways the calipers are starting to look bad and i am sending in all the rest of the parts that i have to get powder coated and i was wondering what i would need to do so they dont get ruined? If any one can help please do so! i would love to know by tonight!

You would need to take anything that can't last in 400degree heat off (namely the square seal on the piston). You should also pull the bleeders. Then you have to tell whoever is doing it that when they sandblast them, they can't blast the inside of the cylinders or get any media inside the fittings (they'll mask where they need to). Then tell them what can't get coated (fitting threads and inside the cylinder). Then reassemble it with a new seal and bleeder when its done. Don't get the piston coated, its not worth the effort for blasting since you can't see it anyways.

James pretty much hit all the major points, but I would add that you should talk to the company doing the powder coating. Find one that has experience with brake calipers or other mechanical parts with sensitive seal or bearing surfaces. If it's a place that mostly does basic parts, you might want to look for another shop. There are also some companies out there that will rebuild calipers including powdercoating in your choice of colors.
