Steering gone bad?
Sunday, November 25, 2007 5:20 PM
Hey guys, Ive been trying to figure out what is wrong. When I drive the red car.. steering or suspension felt loose to me and I had to steer a little bit back to straight direction, mostly on highway speeds. Sometimes when I turn.. I felt like Im sliding a little bit. Its like I dont trust driving the car with my one hand on the wheel.

So far I know for sure, my front suspension alignment is straight, tires are fine, I believe every bolt is tight.

Did this happen to any of you before? I feel very unsafe to drive the car now to be honest

Id like to get this problem solved! thanks!

I forgot to add, driver side axle have been replaced already.. so its bascially still new! For the passenger side.. I have no idea if its bad but I doubt it.

start checking the suspension over, make sure the ball joints are tight, tie rods don't have play in them, make sure your not loosing power steering fluid, check to make sure the control arms aren't loose or bent etc

I was wondering if steering rack could go bad?

it could yes but not likely. Tipically if a steering rack is bad you'll be losing fluid, if your power steering fluid is low take a pick and poke a small hole on the bottom of inside dust boots, if fluid drains out of the boot its time for a rack, the rack can get loose and worn but liek I said its not real likely. I would check everythign else frst and throw a rack in it as a last resort.
