road magnets or sportlines
Wednesday, October 10, 2007 10:33 PM
i am looking for a spring lower than pro kit that has the best ride quality and handling ability. i know the pro kit is a good quality ride with a decent drop, but the more i look at the lower ride, the more i like it.
has anyone here tried both? the magnets are a little cheaper, but thats not a problem. im pretty sure darkstars used to have the sportlines, but i cant remember.
so which one has the best ride quality and handling ability despite the low ride, that also compares to the quality of the pro kit?
and yes, ive searched, but nothing that actually compares the two.
thanx in advanced

If you're gonna spend the money for good struts, you might as well get some Eibach Sportlines then, or even start thinking about some Ground Control coilover inserts.

I've considered switching from Sportlines to Road Magnets following the reports of better ride. I'm not convinced there are any quality issues there.

I love my Road Magnets...the car handles the turns like nothing, but then rides like a stock cav on bumpy roads (not harsh at all) and thats not even close to full soft on the d-specs. I recommend them to anyone. PM me if you have any more specific questions you want me to answer...

thanx for all the info guys. i think enough people have tried them out and really liked them to help my decision. i also found the thread where they sent darkstars a set of magnets and he ended up keeping them.

I'm bias towards Eibach, my pro-kits and konis road like stock.

The sportlines are a stiffer spring rate, the sportlines handle a bit better and the road magnets ride nicer. One big advantage with the sportlines is they have the rubber coating shrunk onto the tight would coils of the springs... the road magnets do not. I'm thinking thats the reason for the clunk from the rear on the road megnets to be so common. All in all, I prefer the road magents.

so what u are saying is, the sportlines are better for daily drivin, and the road magnets are better for racing? and is there some kind of insert or anything to eliminate the clunk on the magnets?

you have it backwards.

the Road magnets are the more comfortable ride, sits low but rids nice. A clunk in the rear is common (all though its 100% eliminated on my car now because of the wieght from the stereo)

the sportlines are more performance orriented of the 2
