I’m still in a state of shock over the brake job bill I paid the dealership. Below is what they did. Does this seem like a $916 brake job to you?
Replace rotors
Pad kit
Shoe kit rear
Machine drums
Brk Clean
Brake system flush
why would you go to the dealer of all places for a brake job?
and no, thats beyond ridiculously expensive
LE61T PTE6262 Powered
sounds aboot right
when I had the ENTIRE brake system from the MC back replaced on my ranger it only cost me $800, did they at least buy you dinner first
GM rotors are probably $100 each $15 a drum to machine another $150 for pads and shoes, then on top of that you got the brake system flush which is about $80 then probably 3-4 hours labour for it all @ $100+ an hour then there are your shop supplys which is a couple % of the total bill and taxes which works out to somwhere what you paid
taking your car to a dealership outside of warranty for ANYTHING besides menu pricing IE the 79.95 semi annual service or cooling system flush and stuff like that is a HUGE waste of money because they have higher labour rates and use GM parts unless you specify you want aftermarket OEM replacement parts
the stealership tried to charge me $250 once for new pads and to machine my existing rotors... i laughed at them.
if you didnt get a BJ you got hosed
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
chalk this up to lessons learned:
get a chiltons manual, the parts, and tools, do it yourself for 1/5 the cost, and KNOW you got new parts. then you still have that other 700-800$ to do the job the next 4 times it needs to be done.
JBO Stickers! Get yours today!
Heres the layout......liek what everyone else said....
front brakes 2 hours.....150-185
rear brakes 2 hours.....150-185
Replace rotors................150-200
Pad kit................................125-150
Shoe kit rear......................125-150
Machine drums......included inthe 2 hours for the rear
Brk Clean.............................7 a can
Brake system flush............85-100 bucks
coulda bought a big brake kit or done the neon rear conversion for that money
Doing the work myself is out of the question but you’re all absolutely right it’s my fault for being in a hurry and not shopping around. Where I live, half the mechanics are dishonest and the other half have no idea what they’re doing. This dealer has a good record with the Better Business Bureau.

That's all you need to know. And never go to the dealership for anything out of warranty, that's a good rule of thumb.
I never reply to post like this but WOW, what a rip off! I guess you didn't get an estimate before the job was done. And definitely consider it a lesson learned, never take your car to a Stealership for easy stuff like brakes.
sorrry to have read about what happened but i work for a shop in n.j.--and i think you would have paid $65-pads $35-rotors $78-labor rear brakes $99 brake flush $55
@!#$ dude, even a good Midas...

for me to do just my front brakes cost me only 80 bucks. thats 40 for pads and brand new oem rotors are 20 a piece. takes about half hour for the front brakes.
Wow, that's crazy.
And the exact reason why I asked for tools for Christmas and used the internet to learn how to work on my own vehicles.
F the dealers

Well dealers are a higher level of service. You get what you pay for.
I worked at an independant shop, they never lubed the slide pins, never cleaned the hub assemblies etc.
At dealers they do all that, but then again, they charge more.
So if you want your brakes dont half ass, go to Midas, done right dealership

so you pay hundreds of dollars more for lube?
thats bull@!#$.... ive worked at a few independent shops, and have always lubed the slide pins....... its called common sense.... every shop is different... the good ones know what to do to get it done right
I'm sorry but anyone that takes a car to a dealership out of warranty, or for any kind of service work that you have to pay for is a moron, plain and simple

dealerships arent all that high and mighty and perfect either. i prefer doing things myself because i know its done right plus i save money. its a good learning experence to do things hands on

no offense, but ive never been to a dealership where they actually know @!#$ from @!#$. most people who work in the service dept. are "know-it-all" hacks who dont know a damn thing
i personally do all my own work, but i wouldnt trust a dealership with anything more than my inspection, and even then i ask to stand and watch
Built Not Bought
dude can you say highway robbery.it shouldn't of cost you an arm and leg for that.
$250 for the fronts with rotors, $100ish for the rears from Tire Kingdom...and i wont ever do that again. not only did they use off the shelf cheapo junk, but im getting noise from both the fronts and the rears...dunno if they didnt do something right or if its just the cheap crap they used, but soon as i can afford it im goin back to poweslot (or EBC) rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads...and having the rear drums checked to see why theyre groaning.
