Finally got one in hand for my car (03 sunfire), used but in great shape still. I'd like to get it put in this weekend but before I go after it I'd just like a couple answers.
1. The mount for the ecu(?) does that go over or under the ring of the bar? Or does it matter?
2. Would the easiest way to bend it out of the way to be taking it off?
3. After searching I read something about twisting this bar to a proper length? How would you twist the bar, and what is the proper length?
4. After I have it in place do the nuts have to be torqued to a certain foot pounds? Or just really tight without stripping something?
5. Last but not least, nothing needs to be done before taking off those nuts on the top of the strut tower does it? For example bracing shocks or anything of the sort?
Will be doing it myself, just want to make sure I have all my bases covered first before doing so.
1- I go mine and my buddy's on top it fit better.
2-top
3- when it fits and there are bolts on both ends just tighten them down
4- 2years with just a socket and tightened untill it felt tight
5-no just take the two nuts and one bolt off the top and place bar down better it the bar is all together first some may be a fighter but most go right on,.
Also, will I need to jack the car up first before throwing it on?
no just open the hood and remove the bolts the cars weight will keep the struts in place. place the strut bar in place an drebolt the bolts to the tower then as u shut the hood check for clearance I had no issue when my vibrant was installed.
Alright, thanks again, didn't think i'd have to but I thought I read that's what someone did so I wasn't sure. Soon as I'm able to bend the ecu bracket I'll be putting it in. Can't wait.
Sory for not getting back to yah dude..hope you like it..you can jack it up and its suposedly suposed to give you a preload on your strut towers..
No problem at all. Got it done just a couple hours ago. Hardest part was finding something to cut a piece out of the ecu brace just to make it fit the way I wanted it to. But it's in and looks good. Now it makes me want to do the rest of the suspension though.
i have a new vibrant rear brace for sale if interested
