aight so ive been looking into doing a new suspension on my 94 cavy and wanted to do a coilover setup but was wondering how to go about it with the rear suspension having the spring and sshock setup if anyone has any info that would be great would like to get this all dont by next weekend thanks
I hate to break it to you, but you aren't going to get it done in a week, unless you want to work 24/7 and you already have all the parts.
Go to
V6Z24.com and look at the Suspension Forum FAQ. Search around in the suspension forum for info. Its do-able, but it requires fab skills, welding, torches, etc. You'll end up modifying both the unibody and axle out back. There are two of us (AFAIK) that have done it. I used a GC kit up front, and sectiond the unibody out back to install weight jacks. Dan Cotter (juicedz4) did a similar GC setup in front, and modified his axle to use adjustable lower perches.
You CANNOT simply use threaded body shocks in the rear. The inner fender was never designed to hold the weight of the car. I also wouldn't recommend either of the aftermarket kits. Both of them are crap quality from crap companies.
alright thanks i think im just gunna go with intrax or sprint springs and some konis for now
Koni doesn't produce the direct fit shocks or struts for 2nd gens anymore. I'm not sure what your plans were, but you can use either 3rd gen J or 2nd gen Eclipse inserts up front (depending on how you want your ride height to end up and what springs you use) and you can use either 93-98 Saab 900NG or SN-95 Mustang shocks in the rear (again, depending on what your ride height will be).
I would recommend the J inserts and Saab shocks for the springs your planning.
