Well, when I swapped from the Goldlines to the Road Magnets I also had to swap out strut mounts since the driver side was literally ripped to shreds. I replaced them with the ones that came up for my 2002 Fire on the auto parts store computer. When I put it all together everything was well until the suspension settled. Once it settled I have a loud clunk when I hit certain bumps while driving. The rear has 3 fingers of clearance while the front only has 1 finger of clearance. The ride isn't horribly rough, but I haven't been able to get the car to ride like stock yet through adjustments.
A couple other problems I have also have to do with the front struts...
a) The passenger side strut won't adjust at all. This caused me to round out the adjuster knob. I did get a replacement one from Hyspy...thanks again.
b) The driver side only rotates about 300 degrees. Should there be more adjustment to them?
you IMed me last night sorry I couldn;t get back to you earlier but they should have like 2-2.5 full turns on them if I remeber right
yeah, you do get a few rotations out of the asdjustment, i actually was thinking it was too much, but oh well.
one other thing, your NEVER going to get it to ride like stock without stock springs. you can get pretty close though, but do you really want it to be as sloppy as stock?
Okay...so what the heck do I do now? Are these rebuildable? Anyone know why this would happen?

Don't expect it to ride like stock. You lowered it. It is not suppose to ride like stock. If it did then the lowering springs SUCK!!

Koni can rebuild them for you, but I think it would cost almost $500.
if its a defective strut, koni should replace it for free
The struts at least a two years old. I am also the second owner of them. I'll just pick up the front two from TTR or another company.
my driver side is actually making a popping sound now so i know what ur talking about kinda makes me hate my car
they adjust about 3 turns.

With my Road Magnets and D-specs, I can get my car to ride very close to stock when going over bumps, cracks, and everyday driving. But then around corners it's so much better. That's what I love about the setup.
If you are the second owner...I hope you didnt pay for them since it sounds like they were already damaged.
Well, who the heck is going to give the struts away for free? That's who I need to find lol. When I got them they had Goldlines on them and no popping sounds. Plus the fronts adjusted the 3 turns ruen says they should. These were also on my '96, but were swapped over when I got the '02. They've been around a while, but the guy I bought them from said they were on his car for maybe two months. Take it or leave it, but that's what I was told.
Talking to Ryne (TVR) about a set of replacements currently, just waiting for the price.
Finally got my new ones Friday. Thanks to Karo for the great price. Now to find out what all has to be done so they can be put on the car.
