What does everyone think????
Im thinking KYB but with what kinda springs, stock?
... which is because both of those are OEM "stock replacement" struts. Anything lower than stock ride height will void the warranty on the struts, cause premature failure, and ride like crap in the meantime.
That said, at stock height either of those struts would be a good choice. I'd probably lean slightly toward the KYBs.

THE KYB GR2 SUCK MOOSE C$#@ THE MONRO'S ARE OK BUT RK HAS TOKICO HP FOR THE SAME PRICE AS THE KYB THEY ARE MUCH BETTER
you know guys, lot of people here says that if you have lowering springs, you should change your shocks and struts also. i have the pro-kit for A YEAR NOW with STOCK shocks but i don't have any problem with it.not blown yet.of course for safety issues i think to go for a good suspension set-up. eibach says their pro-kit was designed also for stock shocks. anyways it was just for the looks not for the performance. and I am cheap...

Fair enough, and I'm glad it worked out for you. It's true that Eibach mentions the springs work with stock struts, however:
a) They put that info in their general FAQs, which covers all their products and all applications. They probably aren't accounting for just how pathetic the stock struts really are on a J, and while they do stipulate the struts be "in good working order", you can bet some people will still throw lowering springs onto their 10-year-old stock rust cans and wonder what went wrong. We're coming to the point also where, since Js were discontinued, there will soon be no "ideal" new stock struts platforms for these springs.
b) As written, that info supposedly includes the Sportlines -- which we know by example are not long-lived or desirable on our stock struts, regardless of what Eibach claims.
c) I don't think there's any denying that betters struts are a good idea, if only for the improved ride and control. Eibach goes on to say this as well. Do you honestly think you car rides well like it is?
c) I think you got lucky.
The fear-mongering that gets used to encourage changing struts may be worst-case, but it is valid just the same.

I had Eibach pro kit and stock strut on my Cavalier when i had it. The ride seemed ok till i got into a car that had the proper struts. I then realized my ride was not that great and i did indeed have blown struts. If i had not riden in that car i would have told people the ride is great and no problems. I did not even realize my car had blown struts. A friend of mine on stock springs at 12K did not even know his struts were blown till we put in his Sportlines and Koni's as to quote "man i did not realize they were blown". Some times it is hard to tell you are on blown struts till you get take them off or have them tested.
Also if you car when you hit a bump bounces your struts are blown.

with a 2nd gen there are no struts for lowering springs, the most popular ones are the KYB GR-2s, right now im running sensatracs in the front and GR2 shocks in the rear with canuck motorsports 1.7 drop springs and it rides like a dream compared to before and its been about a year and 7000 kms
i had my prokit on my stock struts for a lil while, and it rode just great...then i just got the gr2s and i noticed it rode even better.....so i've been on either stock, or stock replacement struts for the entire time my car has been lowered and i havent had any problems,.....i may be lucky too.... i'm am, however, gonna upgrade to sportlines and dspecs shortly, just for the performance factor....kinda wish i woulda done it sooner and hadnt spent my money on stock replacement struts
I ran the stock struts for some time..Well from about 20 km to 140 thousand...And well It rode ok rough as hell but they nver blew..Would I ever do this again no..But now I am running the Tokico HP struts..And I have all good to say about them..If you want a ride that is better than the GR2 go with this strut..Ride is nice but firm and cornering is such a great thing..Also if you are doing your suspension spend the money and get new upper and rear strut mounts..Even if you think they are fine you will save money at the end of it all....
