Blown Strut Need Help with new KYB
Saturday, July 07, 2007 8:36 AM
My front right strut just blew, it was getting close anyways, I want to replace 2000 2.2L cav stock struts front and back with some KYB-GR2 struts. What springs should I get and what more is needed in parts is needed to make this swap work.

Thank you for reading my post

Stock springs. The GR-2 are stock replacement struts, and can't handle drop springs. Might replace the upper mounts while you have it all apart, fronts are expensive, rears are not.

Who said anything about dropping it, I need to know what else is needed or should be replaced during install like mounts and springs, Can I just buy stock springs at pep boys or autozones and put em on with GR-2 ???

Yes, THAT you can do, but you weren't specific with the springs, since you just said you wanted to know "what springs" to get. your stock springs ought to be just fine, why replace them with another set of stockers? Did you break one? Also you say a swap, what are you wanting to swap? the GR-2 is a stock replacement, not what one would call a "swap".
Anyhoo, if your springs are fubared, unlikely but going along with you on that one, you can probably get a set at the junkyard from literally ANY 95+ J-body, regardless of body style. The only differences is in whether the donor is FE0 (like yours most likely), FE1, FE2, or the not often seen FE3 that some folk talk about. Only differences in them is the higher numbers are slightly stiffer.

As for brand new, Pep Boys MAY be able to order you a set, and O'rielly's can too I think, but the quality won't be equal to GM, unless you get Moog, and those would probably end up costing almost as much as GM ones from a dealer. Hope that helps some.

change to kyb-agx with pro-kit or sportline from eibach.you'll change your suspension, might as well add some more bucks and you'll be happy.
