what are your experiences with rotors and pads for j-bodies?
and some places to shop around?
thanks guys
i'm a big fan of the powerslot rotors and hawk pads that turbotechracing sells.
any places to get them cheap?
I'm currently on EBC Black dash rotors and Yellow pads. I Have never gotten them to fade yet....but I only tried once on the highway from 90 ish and got it up to speed and did it again. They have excellent bite when cold for a race pad, and I have about 5-6k miles on them. Very little wear, but the only negitive is there is alot of brake dust. But then again I do drive like an @!#$.
i dont need any crazy performance brakes, i just want a lil better than stock
and cheap
i think im gonna go powerslot and hawk pads, now where to get them...
i see the rotors for $125 at ptuning.com (with %5 discount due to j-body club)
any cheaper anywhere else?
if u're broke, go w/ something from advance. you might be able to find the best prices on their website

does advance have slotted rotors too?
and would it be worth it to pay for the slotted rotors for the upgrade vs regular 'stock' rotors?
yes. thats why i said "if u're broke"

I got powerslot rotors off ebay for about $65 shipped. With zinic coating. I'm running Autozone Ceramic pads. Love the pads. No brake dust and better than the EBC greens I once had.
FU Tuning
i checked ebay a few times, they never seem to have cavalier powerslot rotors
i got the powerslot and hawk pads too. they were the cheapest slotted brake upgrade i could find. work verry well. orderd through a proformance parts store.
Tirerack has these for $76:
I'm going to try those out with the brembo pads next time.
is that the star of david?
I have the BAER Decela's up front with the Hawk pads, and eventually Stillen rear rotors and Same pads.
The BAER's seem to really wear on the pads from the amount of brake dust i get off of them. But i'll tell ya the car STOPS!
I'm liking my Satisfied Ceramic pads and OEM blanks, can't seem to make it fade

More of a nuclear/atomic symbol, I think.

one set is cryo-treated....something powerslot does to make em last longer, etc.... not worth it imo.

i'll admit i was disappointed with the hawk hps pads. high dusting, lower friction coefficient, and faster pad wear compared to my kvr's that i used to have. the only reason i run them now front and rear is because they were about half the price of the kvr's i bought. i mean, i dont need THAT much friction with a nwf swap

so the cryo treatment is not necessary?
and wuts wrong with the hawk pads?
these are things i want to know before i buy
like i said i never had problems with the hawk hps pads. mine are virtually dustless. they stop great. last long, and are not too bad on the wallet.
as for cryotreating, you wont need it. basically they take the rotors and cold dip them to something like -140 or something, cant remember, but it restructures the metal molecules to make them last longer and not warp. but by the time you go to change pads again you may as well do rotors anyway. so get the regular powerslot rotors and hawk pads.
