Are the GC Coilovers and the Koni Reds a good pair together? I'm gettin a set of GC from a member on here and i found an awsome deal on a set of Koni reds.
I think the valving on the reds will be a bit stiff for the off-the-shelf GC setup. If you're getting it all cheap, then go for it, but if you can get yellows cheaper, run them. Or you can get stiffer springs for the GC setup.
i had Koni reds and Ground control when i had my car and it was just fine for me. I had to set my Koni reds on the middle setting. Depending on how low you go will bepend on the stiffness.

well the GC have sportlines on them
?????????? I think what he meant to say was Ground Control uses Eibach Springs not sportlines. (Sportlines are a Lowering spring made by Eibach)

if you can get the yellows for a tad bit more id go with the yellows just for the fact you can adjust the yellows by not having to remove the whole strut assembly then having to get a new alignment
what do you mean havin to remove the entire strut? i thought both the reds and yellows had the knob on top to adjust them or do you mean adjust the coils? and yea sorry that was my fault i mean to say they have the Eibach springs
no the reds you have to remove completely from the car to adjust and the yellows you can leave on and adjust
well that sucks... how do the Reds adjust then after you remove them? The deal i got was 2 reds for like 75 bucks shipped brand new and can pick to more up for 130 shipped. so all in all thats a good deal.
The reds are double adjustable (both rebound and compression). The yellows are only single (rebound). Not to sound like a dick here, but I think that since you don't really sound like you know what the difference is, you won't be using them to they're potential, and they'd be a waste for you. You can check out the Koni website for all the info (and IIRC, its in the FAQ here too). You're getting them pretty cheap, but getting a good part cheap just to have it isn't the best thing to do.
About the springs- I know GCs use EIbach springs, but brand really doesn't matter. I was talking about spring rates. The off-the-shelf rates are like 300# or something, which is good for a street car, but the valving on the reds is more for like 500# and up, which is more like a road race car. You could always get them revalved by Koni (or one of their authorized service centers) if you really wanted, but at that point, you would be better off using a build-a-strut with external compression adjustment.
no you dont sound like a dick becuase seriouly i really do have no clue lol. Kinda why i wanted to ask everyones opinon on them. I wanna make this car feel like its on rails. I'll check out the website and read up on them so i know what im doin with them. im not gonna pass up this chance to get them i mean thats a dirt bottom price on them.
the reason the reds are so cheap is because they have been discontinued for years now so i assume vendors are just trying to get them out of their warehouse.
to adjust the reds you have to remove them from the car and compress the strut all the way down. once its down you can then turn the shaft of the strut to change the settings from hard to soft. works easily if you have a vise grip
wow thats alot of work just to adjust them...
not to mention everytime you remove it you should go get another alignment
lol well i just won a front set of Koni Reds for 65 bucks shipped... Ebays so wonderful sometimes. now i need to order the rears from someplace. Who sells the reds anymore?
nobody!
It's almost impossible since they haven't been made in a few years now. I have the koni red and gc combo and I like it.

while removing the dampers to adjust the stiffness on 'em will indeed necessitate an alignment afterward, so will adjusting the height of the coilovers...
...and isn't the point of coilovers the ability to change ride height, among other things?
i wouldn't worry too much about the realignment process.
i loved the Koni Specials/reds when i had 'em on my '96 back in the day. i personally found the ride much better than the Sports/yellows i had on the '01 in later years, though i'm sure the different springs had some part to play in that.
found some reds? i say jump on 'em while you have the chance!!
