Suspension lift
Saturday, May 26, 2007 1:49 PM
I like the stance of my '96 Sunfire Gt ,but due to the slope of my drive, I scrape the frame and new exhaust system every time enter/exit the driveway. I cannot afford to reconstruct the drive or relocate, any suggestions? Thanks, Dave

You could put on air bags and just raise it when you come to your drive way

Thanks Ethan. Could you or anyone else suggest/recommend an airbag manufacturer or distributor? Dave

The downside is that doing some construction on the driveway might be cheaper.

Shouldn't be too expensive for the drive, they'd just lessen the transition from the street to the driveway, decreasing the slope for the final 5 feet or so, problem solved. A steel plate works as a great intermediary till you can afford the actual driveway work.

try coming out on and angle. my driveway is something like 35-40 degress and i can get out jsut fine if i approach at and angle

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

ding! this is something that people that are lowered do all the time. going in or out on an angle is much much easier than going straight on.

wow you must have one hell of a steep driveway or something, mine is dropped on sportlines and i have scrapped YET *knock on wood* and ive gone over some pretty nasty bumps, steep driveways, and steep inlet's to gas stations. it takes them like a champ, i havnt even needed to try and take things at an angle yet.

i spose im lucky, i doubt i will be once i get my subframe brace on tho

if your lowered and have never had to go at anything on an angle then you have some pretty flat areas.

I've clunked my stupid plastic air dam a few times, but it's been broken and re-attached so many times now that it pretty much hinges at the top and moves when it has to. The entry angle definitely makes a difference. The only time I've scraped was the first and only time I attacked my drive straight-on, and I slammed pretty hard as both wheels dropped into the drainage gutter.
