I know there seems to be alot of I hate the factory rear mount posts lately, But I had to make one.
I just installed my new mount about 4 days ago
and now its shot and I'm tired of replacing them. It just is expensive to do them every 6 months of so.......hell my original mounts on the front are still fine after 6 years.
But seriously to cut to the point of this rant. I long while back like 1-2yrs I remember someone posting in a thread that were in the process of getting all the detentions for the factory style rear mounts and they would eventually make them in aluminum or steel....I forget.....I did search but couldn't find the post to save my life, I don't know if is was Mc money, or someone else, But I was thinking it would be nice if that person happened to read this and post up what happened or what is happening, and If they were to come out I would be more than happy to give you my money.
Any takers?.......Turbo-tech.......possible corner of the market if you were to take the time between your current R&D and projects.......just a thought.....anyway thanks for listening.

well, i heard that held motorsports was making solid rear mounts, but they never answer their phone or emails so idk wtf is going on there.
i would like to see a solid mount made as well, although i havnt driven my car with the sportlines/yellows yet, ive heard so many horror stories about the upper rear mounts taking a shiit that before i install the rears id like to use a nice solid rear mount.
someday someone will make them... I HOPE!
I contacted Held and they never responded. Thats why I was hoping the member who posted way back about making them himself would run along this thread.
wait till the rod goes through the mount and hits the underside of the rear deck... thats a fun experience

IDK why you guys are having problems... I've been running the Monroe replacements for 6 years now.... never a problem!
Monroe strut mounts? I might give them a shot, I have used Gabrial and the napa brand. So far the napa brand lasts the longest.

did u ever half to drill them out for a koni rear strut? my yellow shaft fits in my monroe replacements just fine, i dont get it.
Nope... fits my Koni reds just fine.

awesome, just another step i dont need to bother with!
i had over 100,000 miles on the stock rear mounts on my 00 , and my 97 has 84,000 , not 1 issue with either
and the 00 has gravana coil overs on it , well it did
autoxz24 (Nick Carney) had solid rear mounts for awhile....not sure what went down with that though...he don't really mod J's anymore though

I think he may be getting back into it, he bought my Z24 after I crashed it for the engine to put into his (spun rod bearing)
I used the Monroe (i think) brand rear strut mounts on mine with the Koni Yellow Sport kit suspension for over a year and didn't have any problems at all...
2000 Redlined has that suspension now, and it seems to be doing just fine for him also. And I can say for a fact that I didn't baby my car at all...

If you have Yellows, then this is irrelevant to you. You don't drill the rear mounts for the Reds. They had a thinner rod, same as the stock ones... at least I'm pretty sure this is the case.
hmm well idk man, all i know is that the yellow rod is the same size around as my monroe rear replacement strut rod and fits the monroe rear mount perfectly.

thats because the napa brand ARE monroe. they just carrie the napa logo
^ How do you know this to be true?
ive only replaced one of mine in the 200k km's on it, replaced it with a gabriel that lasted 2 weeks, then replaced with an oem one, haven't had a problem yet
