I am looking to lower my 04 sunfire sl 2dr. I would like to keep my stock struts....but do not know what type of lowering range i have. Can someone please tell me how much this car can be lowered with the stock struts...and if anyone knows any places in Toronto/York Region that can do this at a reasonable price.
Thanx in advance.
Stock struts have NO lowering range. While they can be used, any amount drop on stock struts will be on borrowed time. Typically they will ride poorly, blow prematurely, and cost more in frustration and alignments than the initial expense of getting proper struts.
Up to 1.5", a good choice of struts is KYB AGXs. More than that, look to Tokico D-Specs or Koni Yellows.

Whats your budget? Good suspension isn't cheap. I'd say go for the koni yellow sport kit, its the best bang for the buck and comes with springs and struts. Runs 700.00->800.00

You can't lower the vehicle on stock struts. How low do you want to go?
1.5" or less, you can use KYB AGXs.
anything above a 1.5" drop you will need Koni Yellows, or D-Specs.

I second all of this. I can say firsthand that lowering on stock struts is a bad idea. Unless you have a show only car, I'd definitely recommend upgrading struts as well. Since you'll have the suspension assembly apart anyhow......
agree with all of the above
agree with all of the above except the show car comment..... just becasue its a show car doesn't mean rig up certain areas, real show cars go all out on everythign.
Yup.... the suspension isn't something you want to half-ass... because if it fails while you're in a panic situation... you're going to regret it pretty quick
