Hub Seized, please help
Friday, March 30, 2007 6:29 PM
I was trying to get my hub off today but it seems like its seized to the steering knuckle. Does anyone know what I could do?
I already tried prying it, banging the @!#$ out of it, WD 40...and im kinda stumped!

Any help?

Get a 3 prong pulley puller. Put the prongs on the hub, the pointed end on the CV shaft and crank the @!#$ out of it.. something will give, if it ends up pushing the CV shaft and not taking the hub off, I say resort to beating it more with a hammer, a really, really big hammer. If you are replacing it, it won't matter if you screw the hub up.

Wouldnt that screw up my axle (bending), or differential?

The CV shaft shouldn't go inside the differential, the only thing that would happen is the part of the shaft that the nut screws onto might dent in or something.. but if he goes slow and pays attention, it should work just fine.

I pulled my hubs off like that, but they weren't seized to the knuckle either, they were just stuck on the shaft. I think it would be better to just get a BFH and go to town on it, since I am guessing you are replacing it.
