Addco bars now powdercoated black???
Tuesday, March 27, 2007 11:16 AM
Just wondering if anybody else has heard about this. I found a rear bar for $145 and it says that Addco no longer zinc plated gold there bars and that they now have the powder coated black. Just wanted to see if anybody could validate this before i make my purchase because i looked on the Addco site and they had no mentioning of this.

I'd call Addco on that. Powder coating is cheaper, and zinc is quite a bit stronger. Let us know what you find.

I got an Addco rear bar off of eBay from Never Enough Auto about three weeks ago, and it was black. I was surprised, but it suits me just fine as I prefer it this way.

^^
Black bar and bushings.
Cool.

Probably they way its gonna be.
After the 'redesign' of the rear bars, I dont see why they wouldn't do the powdercoat deal now.
No biggie, Addco been in the game for a minute, they know they're stuff.

Yea i will give them a call and see what they say. Never enough Auto is the same website i was looking at purchasing off of, but had me worried cause they say they are an official Addco dealer but on the Addco page they aren't listed, but i will give them a call and see whats going on

I and a few others got they're bars from NEA.
Back when they ran the gp.

They're based in Michigan.
Cool folks to deal with, they're legit.
No worries bud.

Is there such thing as the anti-sway bar's bushing going bad? I had replaced several struts on my drivers rear in the past. I'm wondering if this may have something to do with it.

My thought would be that the bushings could eventually harden and harshen the ride a bit, but I doubt you would have any problems. I've seen bar designs that bolt directly to the shock and skip the bushings altogether.

I have this clunking/knocking sound coming from my rear driver side and I can't figure it out. I have brand new strut and mount installed. I'm about to throw a wheel bearing at it and see if that solves the problem.

I bought my front and rear Addco sway bars from them. Great company. I'll order from them again in the future.

I don't even do my own car work as a rule, and I installed mine in less than an hour. Actual work (not counting jacking up the car and hunting for wrenches) maybe totalled 10-15 minutes. The only challenges might be loosening the shock bolts (as mine were a bit seized), getting the bushings and end links in order, and working at (what I thought were) some awkward angles under the car. Definitely an easy, cheap, and effective bolt-on.
