I was researching springs and found a post that said there were fake s-tech springs going around. How can you tell whether or not they are genuine? I found some on ebay for $117 and they say they are 100% genuine but I want to be sure before I buy them...
thanks
Will
for that price their probably fake
ebay link to them... there is a repubatle seller that sells them fairly cheap but they make up the money on shipping
I've seen to part numbers listed most say SKG90-AUBOO, but the ones that are $155 say SKA40-AUBOO...
any ideas on what is real and what isn't?
If you have the springs you can easily tell by the Tein logo. If it's a sticker on the springs they're fake; if it's printed directly on the springs they're real.
Other than that you have to go by price and seller reputation. If they're selling them darn cheap, and they sell a lot of crap parts they're probably fake.
Wow I've never replied to my own post so friggin much, but here it goes, I read through High Performance Outlets feedback comments as far as I could and every tein spring was PN#1300269XXXXX. Every feeback on the springs was very positive, and the thing that makes me think they are real was 3 different buyers I found commenting they said:
1. "authentic tein s-techs"
2. "legit s-techs"
3. "real tein s-techs"
So from what I've read I thank this may be the real deal at a great price, Any other opinions before I buy....?
Just becareful. Some people don't realize they what they are buying is fake have it on their cars and still don't realize they are fake. I mean i can put fake S-tech on ebay with pictures of the springs i got from a website.
Don't be suprise if from those people who are giving the reviews don't realize (oblivious) that they are riding on fakes. When i mentioned it some people with had no idea that fakes were on ebay.
Personally i would pay a little extra to make sure i was not buy fakes and go to some where else other than ebay.

Suspension is not an area to cheap out on. I myself would pay a little more to know i'm getting the real thing. I've been screwed on ebay before and really shy away. Especially all of the counterfeit parts that fly around ebay.
Buy your springs from any reputable dealer that supports the JBO. www.gravanatuning.com
The High Performance ones look fake to me. But that's an opinion only. They only sell S-Techs from Tein, and that's somewhat peculiar.
The Race Options
might be real. That price is still very low, but maybe they have a deal going, who knows. Cost is like $140 or 130 something IIRC.
Maybe they're just making it up on that inflated shipping rate, but still would only be making a few dollars on the sale.
Well I now have a message from High Performance outlet saying they are 100% real Tein springs and that they offer a money back guarantee, they responded in only a few minutes. I think I may risk it..., if they are fakes I can always take it to ebay right?
You can take it to ebay there is not much they can do other than possibly closing their account. They do have somewhere you shop at your own risk. Just because he responded does not mean anything

Thank you A+Performance for the link.

Well I've talked with the guy again and they offer a 100% money back guarantee, and they are aware of the fakes, and they are not selling fakes. They want to offer the best price possible. Well I guess I'll try it and if they are real then I'll let everyone know about them at this great price...
