Got my arospeed adjustables the other day, without instructions.Any pictures of youre installls would help. Thanks
Aerospeed Coilovers? What's the spring rate on those? You'll probably need D-Specs or Konis.
Fill in your registry.
do not put them on stock struts.
go to bradiscool.com for spring/coilover install instruction/pictures.
I wouldn't put them on at all.
I'd throw them out and then do some research on what you really need. You'll learn through that research why you've just thrown out the arospeed's and what it is you really should have bought.
I NEED PICTURES IF POSSIBLE OF REAR AND FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLED WITH COILOVERS. THANKS.
becareful with them some people with cavalier had some serious issues with them that is why you may not see anyone on here with them. No one is trying to diss u. If you see a someone about to fall will you let them

thanks for the advice cavie flake.as far as me listening to others i have been for 37 years now and 24 of them as a mechanic.
as far as breaking cars and totaling cars goes i DO torque bolts to specs and i CAN DRIVE by the sounds of it better then you.as far as suspensions goes the 4 link in the rear of my 68 CHARGER R/T makes a ton of noise(like it should when theres spherical rod ends)on steel.
also MOST of us real rodders have tools that are older than u so instead of asking mom for money for mods MOST of us real rodders bust open knuckles get tranny fluid in our hair to cruise friday nights
also just to let u know i have other cars i built by scratch(some parts with instructions)
1-68 charger r/t
2-2004 denali lowered lambo doored riding low on 22s
3-another 96 cavalier 2.2 not sure what im doing with it
4-81 chev blazer 14 inches lift 46 inch baja claws with 468 big block chev
5-94 chev short box on older straight axle frame with 38s under it
6-88 toyota pick up thats a full time rockcrawler with 35s and plenty of dents
so buddy ur mom is calling dinner is ready so lift her shirt
for the rest of u guys that replied thanks a ton the cavvy is together road tested other than a alignment(that ill do in my backyard alone)its good to go and yes i stayed out of the ditch
sorry for the rant but im pms ing
Take it easy there. I know some people around here come off as asshats, but they usually mean well.
I appreciate the fact that you have quite a bit of experience with other cars. But those are other cars, and some of us know our stuff when it comes to J-bodies. Those struts are bad news. If you want to ride on them that's your decision, but can't say I didn't warn you.
If you interested at all 2" stroke 600# tender springs would mellow those right out. Did they come with bearings?
yes ur right about the ride being a little stiff doesnt bother me im used to it ride with 46 inch tires or a rockcrawler for fun on the weekends.being in a male domintaed job i get this type of thing all the time and i believe that i make a good choice when selecting performance parts.
the decision to use these were based on a fellow mechanis says if tuned properly(by him)they will be fine as he has had 13 cavvys and like 6 with this set-up soooooo.....
hes had them for years and is very in tune to most types of suspension set ups for street, rallying, autocrossing and drag racing.
again thanks for ur guys help its in,its together, and its down the street
It has nothing to do with being male dominated. Find enough human beings to talk to an some of the will come across poorly.
What struts are you using them on? Stock struts can not control spring rates over 200lb/in, which these are double.
Not much "tuning" you can do with this setup, unless you've got more that you didn't mention. I'd be very surprised if someone who really knew what they were doing used this setup for 6 our of 13 cars. This setup can be modified to work okay for certain situations. But as a general or everyday setup this is pretty poor.
I think cavie freak was just trying to tell you these coilovers are NOT designed for your car. You're going to ruin other parts of your suspension which shouldn't be ruined, have a very bouncy, dangerous and uncontrolable ride. You've been modding cars for years, great! wonderful! Still doesn't change the fact these were not made for your car and are going to do more harm than good. Sell them, and buy some GC's. While you're at it, get some yellows. Suspension is NOT the place to cheap out on your car. I've learned this the hard way now I'm running a retardly expensive setup but I'm glad and it was worth every penny. I did the ebay coilovers on stock struts thing and I'm sure a few others here have as well, trust us it's not worth it. Spend the few extra bucks and get something made for your car.
your cocky, you have @!#$ty coilovers and dont wanna believe it. i dont give a @!#$ what you built or how old you are. if you dont know @!#$ about quality parts for a cavalier then dont come in here acting like your @!#$ dont stink. you got junk, bottom line. if you put them on the car, its going to destroy parts. i dont care what you have to say about what you've done to other cars. if you know that much about other cars then you would know that no cars suspension is the same as other so you can compare what you have done in the past to this suspension.
i have personally known two persons with them and two others i have spoken to about them. Do your self a favor and get something that you will be happy with. The spring rates they provide are to high for stock struts and even for aftermarket one they would need to be on the stiffer setting to work with any good out come. I did the springs and stock struts when i started out. I may not have the experience you have but i have vowed i am never going to do suspension half a** again. I have a Grand Prix now if i lower it am not doing it unless i have the proper springs and struts.

I didn't post what I posted to be rude.
If you've got all this experience, please listen to reason and understand what is is we're telling you.
Here's what you need to know.
Arospeed coilovers are not engineered for the j-body. They simply give you a generic kit and leave it to you to figure out how to install it.
This means that there is no proper way to secure them to your struts. People end up putting them on top of spring perches, or using set screws to hold them in place, or any number of other hack job solutions. With all your experience, I'm sure you'll come up with some way to make them stick. With that in mind, those pics posted above of GC's mounted on Konis are irrelevant to you since yours won't fit nicely like that.
Obviously, you know that you need to use struts capable of handling the higher spring rates involved with coilovers so you're putting them on Konis or something similar and not some KYB's or stock struts you have lying around.
Finally, since the generic kit isn't designed for our cars and comes with springs that are rated much too high, you'll want to get in touch with Eibach or Ground Control or someone else who will sell you springs of a proper rate. You know enough to figure out the rates you want so you don't need my advice there. You already know the difference between stiff and too stiff and the bad things that happen when things are too stiff.
I expect you'll engineer some sort of solution for the lack of front bearings. You know that the springs have to be able to turn freely in order for the Mac struts to work properly.
Good luck with the installation and show us pics of the completed assemblies when you put them together. I'm curious to know what you come up with.
Why didn't you just ask the mechanic that you know that has had them on his 6 cavaliers?

you should be asking him to do the install too then... it will save you time, stress and flaming.

your my hero!!
Yeah lady get a clue. I realyl doubt you biult any of those or even know how to work on a car. If you have built any of those cars, im sure you could figure out the coilover install. Jesus man.
Very good someone can count in this joint. My friend uses this site under my name. So before u start talking $#!% about me maybe u should think. Personally, I have no interest in this site just due to the fact that it is run by guys who think their $#!% don't stink.
So stop dissin me when u don't even know who the hell i am.
To any man that has knowledge of what they are doing thank you for giving my friend the information they needed. A special thanks goes out to (FACE) for giving the exact information needed.
To be fair both of you had ample opportunity to disclose who you were. Any knowledge of suspension has not been evident. Your friend's experience flies in the face of many people's experience around here. We're not all guys, there are some girls around here; but it really doesn't have anything to do with gender. I'm not trying to be a dick, but you have to be able to ignore some of the crude comments.
You asked for help. I have given it to the best of my ability considering you will not answer even the most simple questions I pose. Good luck with the coilovers, if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Relax, no need to get uppity because of what a few know-it-alls have to say.
