KYB AGX Strut Install

I just wanted to make sure of a few things. I've read through all the posts searching 'kyb' would bring.

I do NOT need a spring compressor because they're lowering springs, if I was doing stock springs, I would.

How much time can I expect to spend doing this? I've never done any suspension work, but I'm good with mechanical things.

Do I need new strut mounts? Or just the struts and springs?

Can I do it alone, or should I bring another person into the fray?

-Thanks

For a time estimate:

As for the strut mounts, KYB should have included spacers to use w/ (I believe) 2k+ mounts.

I've taken my suspension apart I don't know how many times already solo.

One tip, get a Chilton's manual. It'll be your best friend for suspension how-to's

Awesome, thanks guys.

But what about the compressor. I'm right on that right?

You never know. If you feel like your going to need one, then RENT one from like Advanced or something. No need to buy one because you get your money back.

And yes, a buddy is always a good thing, esp. if the top bolt flies off and goes through your neighbors window, which by neighbor I mean my buddies. haha

You will need a spring compressor to disassemble the old struts if you wanted to save the boots/strut cover(the rubber tube on the strut) or to re-use the strut mount. You should't need it to put everything back together.

If you have an air compressor and impact gun, it should take alittle over an hour for both sides, if you figure out how it goes, which isnt hard. If not, expect an afternoon project. I did my suspension and it took me a few hours, then with the air gun it took me an hour, including lifting the car on jack stands. But then again, I have done it before. check out: www.bradiscool.com for the write-up.

I read through it.

It talked about removing the stock spring from the strut with a spring compressor...well I won't need the stock springs or struts.

Could I just take off the whole assembly and put on the AGX's and new springs without it?

Also, are there strut mounts that need to be swapped over in the rear?

As for the mounts, are there differences between the stock and the KYB mounts?

Yes, yes, no, and I don't know (still using stock mounts)
