The Story:
I'm having a friend at a shop install Gravana's Coilovers for me, along with new KYB front strut mounts and Prothane control arm bushings and lower motor mount. When I made my order at Gravana, I ordered one strut mount, thinking it was a package of 2. Turns out they sent me 2 at first by mistake, then reqested the package back from UPS, so I never got it. It took a couple weeks to straighten that out, then I got the correct package - with my ONE mount in it. Stupid mistake - never ordered strut mounts before! Chad even put a note on the webpage to order 2 if you are in need of a pair.
So I need another mount. I've called KYB to find a Canadian Distributor who could help me out, because I'm not interested in paying $40 in brokerage fees and taxes to import a $65 US part again. I'm getting nowhere with that. So I went to Canadian Tire and bought a Monroe strut mount for $75 (which I can still take back).
The Question:
Is there a really good reason I shouldn't mix-match my strut mounts? (That is, use one KYB mount, and one Monroe mount?) I mean, how different could they be? I don't really like the idea of it, but I'm running out of options. Anybody want to buy the KYB mount from me so I can buy the matching Monroe mount and be happy? (yeah right)
What do you think? Has anybody had a bad experience with doing this? Is it worth buying the second Monroe mount and just cutting my loss with the KYB mount?

If your in Windsor just cross over to detroit and order the KYB strut mount from Autozone or one of the other autoparts retailers there. They usually come in in about 7 to 10 days. Then go and pick it up, stick it in the glove box, and come on home.

why woudl you buy the mount from gravana? did you get the pillow ball mounts??
i would jsut drive over and pick up a set. or find a friend who wants to take a trip to canada
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
I think NTMD8TOR has got the cheapest idea for you Keith. Otherwise the mounts you have purchased should have been made to GM's specifications and they should be fairly identical. If I were you I'd install what you've got and call it a day.
