Lowering springs + stock struts?

I want to drop my car, but dont have the scratch for a set of struts decent enough for heavy drops, which of these spring sets would be okay to use with stock struts?

TEIN S.Tech 1.7" front and 1.5" rear drop

Tenzo-R TLS5195 1.8" drop front and rear

B+G Sport Lowering approx 1.6" front & rear

Progress 40.0401 1.7" front and 1.5" rear

It appears that you know the answer to your own question but some people just like to hear it from others...nothing wrong with that..

No, im sorry your stock struts won't be SAFE, will they work...i guess yea sorta but i wouldnt suggest doing so on any of those springs...the "rates" are to much for it to handle.

cheapest struts to look for will be the KYB AGX...best of luck!

You could always go with the eibach pro-kit. It is a smaller drop, so your struts will last for a while. I went with a pretty agressive drop on stock struts for a year and a half. Not the best thing, but it worked.

^^ pro-kit is a 1.5 in drop... you could go with tein h-techs which is a 1.2 in drop so it would be a little better on the stock struts. either way, its advised that you dont lower on stock struts for your safety and the safety of others.

Check out my build thread!

^^^ 1.4" drop per Eibach themselves

Any type of drop over 1" on stock struts will maybe get you 6 months of use at best....

Would KYB GR-2s work? Or not strong enough with damping?

KYB does warranty them to a 1.5" drop, so they should work fine. They are non-adjustable though...

but they are also oem replacments so they wont work.

just read the faqs and find the struts you need. spend the money and do it right the first time

Second gens do not have the AGX option, so GR2s are a popular choice for the drop.

From what I've read on V6z24, they seem to work just fine.

if you get anything lower than a 1.5" drop you should really get koni yellows or dspecs. if you stay higher than a 1.5" drop then just get agxs. gr2s you shouldnt lower on and the same w/ tokico hps. i live right outside of philly too so if you need any help just drop me a line, id be more than willing to help you with whatever you need.

Hey, I've got some D-Specs that I just bought because I was TOLD I had Sportlines and stock shocks, but it turns out (6 days after the D-Specs arrived) that I just had some cut springs. Anyway, if you want some cheap D-Specs email me email]jkyoachim@hotmail.com. They've never been installed or anything but there are some paint scratches from Fed Ex.

Jon - PM me with how much you'd like for the d-specs

DayUSeX - i'm not talking about installing the springs and then one strut at a time. as a mechanic i know that would be quite foolish. I'm talking about buying the springs, keeping them in my garage and buying one strut at a time until i have the full set and THEN installing everything.

LOL i'm horrible at saving money for stuff like that.
