Tein Basic Coilovers...
Friday, October 13, 2006 6:58 PM
Well, I have decided on the Tein Basic coilovers now....BUT, I want to get either 1 or 2 inch shorter springs in the back so I can level out the ride height. My question is where do i get those at? Do I call and order the whole setup from Tein? Or can I get them from gravanatuning.com if I call? They don't offer the option online...help me out guys, this is definate, I just need to know how to do it.

Thanks,
BMG

You're not going to want to buy shorter springs from Tein, or anybody. Tein does sell other springs for their suspension setups, however they arn't going to have the same balence that the kit does. The Tein type Basic coil overs are adjustable height coilovers. There is no need to get shorter springs, simply adjust the spring perches to adjust height front to back or side to side.

I don't mean to sound condecending. But it seems like you really don't know what you are getting yourself into. You are looking to purchase a performance part you don't seem to know much about. I know that everyone isn't born knowing this, hell I went through an Eibach Pro-Kit, Tein type Basics and I'm on the Tein Super Streets now to learn what I've learnt. You're in the right place, and you're asking questions, and that's good. But you need to back up a bit first and find out what it is you think you are purchasing.

Yeah basically coilovers mean you can adjust the height

You can adjust each corner indivdually without the need to change springs. Basically there are two "collars" on each coilover that you can move up and down with these two little hooks.

Basics do not have adj dampening, but on the SS you can change damepning so you can tell it how soft or how harsh the ride is.

Yes yes, I know all this...but I read somewhere (and ill look for the post in a second) that you could get shorter springs on the back coilovers so it would already sit 1 or 2 inches shorter (depending on which you bought)...here is the link to the page on tein's website (http://www.tein.com/stsp.html)...it says these standardized springs are for height adjustable parts....which is coilovers unless im missing something. Ok, seeing as im lazy I'm gonna wait on the reply before i look for the other post.

Get the two inch lowering springs for them. A friend of mine has them, and wanted them lower in the rear after he got them. whitecavy is his name on here if you want to talk to someone that has them, and also bought the lowering springs.

Alright, thank everyone....who was helpful. I think I'm getting it all lined up now. After I get the coilovers ordered and installed, THEN my body kit should be painted (shop is taking forever) and I'll get that on. Anyways, after all that is done I'll try and get some pics up.

Thanks,
