I'm on the stock suspension going on 62,000 miles.
Whenever I turn the wheel, I can hear a grinding noise from what sounds like the front tire(s). I can also feel a pretty strong vibration in the steering wheel. It doesn't happen when I turn it softly.
I know it's not a CV joint because I checked, and it's not leaking.
I was hoping to go autox this weekend, but I'm not sure that's the best idea.
I've dragged the car a decent amount of times, and I've had a lot of wheel hop.
I haven't taken it to a shop yet because I don't want them to make problems up without me having at least a little knowledge.
Any insight?
could be a wheel bearing. make sure there is no tire rubbing as well.

2009 Ford Mustang V6
I just went and looked, there is no tire rubbing against the fenderwell.
Also, it sounds more like a trombone humming quietly.
The noise is only audible when the steering wheel is at 3 o'clock during a hard right turn, and at 9 o'clock during a hard left turn.
Not trying to be a dick....but check to make sure all ur lug nuts on snugged up....mine was making the same noise after i bought new rims and had put on by a shop and in 2 days i had about the same thing happen...Xcept....they didnt torque them adn my lug nuts were way lose....so make sure there tight....and if that dont help.....check the wheel bearings! good luck!
I'm not entirely sure what a wheel bearing is...could you give me a quick rundown of what it is and how I can check it?
I'm going out to check the lug nuts right now...
check the hub i jsut had the same problim, its the thign where the studs are and it spins?
Well, I took off the wheel, and went to put it back on to ensure that it would be on properly.
GM's freaking supplied lug wrench snapped two of the lugs. I didn't turn them that hard, I think the wrench torqued them in a weird way. So, now I'm running on 2 lugs. Yay.
I tried driving a little bit to see if it still made the noise, I couldn't really tell. I was afraid to really turn it hard.

Lug nuts are now replaced and torqued down. Still making the noise.

I guess I'll forego autoxing and take it to Midas on Monday.
