No Brakes

Hey everyone, my winter beater is a 93 cavalier and I went to move it the other day and realized it had no brakes. The car sat all summer and now when you press the brake pedal it goes all the way to the floor with no pressure. The brakes grab when the pedal is depressed all the way to the floor just enough to stop from a slow roll. Checked the brake fluid and it is full, just checking to see opinions on the matter. Any help is appreciated.

Did you press the pedal a few times to build up pressure? Might just be air in the lines after sitting for a while.

If there's no leak and the fluid is there, try bleeding them.

Yeah, I pumped it quite a bit and still nothing, so like you said, I guess my next option is bleeding them. By the way Weasel, I was in Toronto on August 6 and was leaving after a Jays game and saw your car as we pulled up to a red light, looks good in person

I would start with bleeding them. It could also be a faulty master cylinder I think?

Tell us what happens.

Bleed em and check that all the fittings are tight and the lines are in good condition they may have started to dry rot from a combination of sitting and being a 93 (12yr old brakelines). Being this is a winter beater the dry rot and water or air inside the lines is even more posssible as the car is exposed to primarily harsh conditions.

I'd actually just replace the lines, and bleed the system better safe than sorry.

Thanks bro! Hopefully I wasn't driving like an idiot...

I HATE driving in downtown rush hour traffic!
