so I take it from your profile that you're using Koni yellows and Sprint springs on all four corners?
thanks for the pics. looks easy!

Holy crap I can't believe how easy it looks! I may have to do this myself. I'm shocked the thing lines right up to the frame like its ment to be there!
Awesome, Awesome work guys!

^^^ yeah it looks like it was meant to be there straight from factory, lol. Lines up perfectly.
Im still looking into as much info as i possible can find on this. I have a parts car, a Grand am. But my new suspension wont be here for another couple of weeks. Do the sunfire struts still fit it, or do i have to use the GA struts? Do the struts fit with no issues to the upper tower bolt locations? Are the control arm bushings for the front, the same as the Jbody ones? How did you route your new exhuast? do you have to roll the fender?
How long did it take for the full install? A day, or more? Have you had problems with Rear disc brakes with a single diaphram brake booster?
im sure ill think of more questions soon. Your lucky you had a lift to work with, my car will be on jack stands for the whole job.
Either I am going crazy or I can see the future
... but weren't this pictures posted before here?
Meh w/e.. nice job people and major round of applause.
BTW does any one know if the Tri-link from the Saturn S-series fits on the J? Maybe another option.

Those whole post is total Deja Vu. I swear it's been posed before, just like this.
I think in the other post I told people to look up the IRS Swap, cause it's got all the details.
People who see this and are amazed, where have you been? We've been doing these swaps for almost a year now, and talking about it on this forum.
So these were repeats then heh? So why make another thread?

these pics were posted in another persons thread. no idea which one it was. someone asked if i could post them so i did. no offense but the search thing on JBO sucks assballs unless you've used it lots.

you use the complete suspension from the GA. stuts and all. yes they bolt right up to the J tower. this is a rear swap so no idea about the front control arm bushings, when you install, you'll see how the zaust needs to be routed, yes you have to roll the fenders, i used my J Sprint srings, the instal took 4 hrs, there are no issues with the rear discs and the brake booster. everything works awsome!!
Thanks for the info purplezed. dont be surprised if i find soething else i may be be concered about, ill be asking you and CTS.
no problem. that's what we are here for. Lenko is also very versed in this swap and approachable to ask info from.
So you have to roll the fenders cause the tires will hit? So then how much wider does it increase the track of the rear? Don't get me wrong that would probly help to make it more stable being wider and all.
Did you measure the differences to see how much wider it became?
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Jackalope, your tires stick out an extra 1.5"s on both sides if i recall.
the whole shebang is about 2" wider then stock. not a big dif but i run 225/40/18's so rolling was a must. the stock 16's could problably be run with no rolling due to their offset.
I didn't roll my fenders, but I'm on 225/45/17's

it'll depend on what your using for lowering springs. the drop of the Sprints required rolling where as Eibach Pro-Kit doesn't really need it.
No ... you can put your J springs on the Alero rear struts ... but you have to secure them with wire or else when your suspention is at full travel (unloaded) the spring can spin around and dislodge from the strut. The N car strut is longer than the J one hence the spinning, Purplezed and myself bot used wire to anchor the spring to both the perch on the strut and the strut mount at the top.
Jay
I had all kinds of problems using J springs in the rear. I crushed a set of N stock springs (lost about 1" of height) and they seem to work very well.
How much higher do you suppose that the N body cucpension is stock as opposed to the jbody rear suspension?
I figure that the N body is heavier and will raise the car.
difference between the N springs and the J springs is about 2 inches ... my car sits about 2" lower than lenkos car and he's running eibachs for the N body, whereas I'm running sprints from my J body ... and I'm tucking rear tire
it's great
Jay
Yeah, I've got a mix-and-match of stuff in my car....
Front is Eibach (J-body) Pro-kit springs, with Koni Red inserts on the stock strut housing, and Monroe strut mounts. Rear is Eibach (N-body) Pro-Kit springs, with KYB GR2 struts and N-body stock strut mounts... I also have the J-body Eibach front sway bar, with a PartsForYourCar.com rear sway bar...
It looks decent, handles great.. but it's not soooo low that I can't drive everywhere. However... because of the 1" wider stance in the back, the right rear tire rubs if I have heavy rear passengers... the left side seems to be ok at the moment, but before my alignment, it used to rub (not the right side... just the left). Jay and Patrick have both modified their quarter panels to avoid rubbing.... I need to roll my fenders to do the same.... so I don't rub anymore.
For 4 bolts and really minor modifications, this is an awesome upgrade.... as long as you have dual bolt pattern wheels to match.
WOW................
okay so I need to get this straight
full rear N-body assembly......
Struts and strut mounts ?? or use the stock j-body strut mounts???
4 bolts.... wow.....
I have decided this is for me ...... my rims even have the double bolt pattern woot....

correct, and use the Nbody struts and mounts, they line up perfectly.
