Lowered, but fronts only .4 inches lower
Sunday, July 02, 2006 8:26 PM
Well last weekend my car was lowered and I was too excited to realize anything wrong. I have the Eibach ProKit/Koni Reds and new strut mounts and all were installed with no problem. Then I really looked at them today and realized that they are not as low as they should be. Good thing I took measurements beforehand. The drop in the front is only .4", but the rear dropped a good amount. Both sides in the front are like this so there is something wrong. Please advise me to what it could possibly be. I do have pictures if that will help. Thanks.

There was an issue (that apparently was fixed) with the Pro-Kit and the 2.2's having an uneven drop.

I feel your pain there, as I have the same effect, so I'm lookin for either a set of H&R or GoldLine fronts to swap out.

Oh yeah!, I do remember reading that in the FAQ's now. I'm not to worried about the way it looks, rather just making sure that there is nothing wrong.

I thought eibach springs had a settling period as well.... so give them a few weeks.

Yeah that is what I was told. It is just a little stressful when you spend so much money and it looks like it did before I dropped it.

I have a 2002 2.2 OHV and haven't had a problem with the pro-kit. After getting it aligned and a little driving around, it settled perfectly. Hope yours evens out soon.

Weight difference is like 150 lbs (2.2 man to 2.4 auto). That's pretty small for a 2500 lb car.
Definately let them settle for a few days before taking measurements. Most springs settle in.

Mine have been on for a week and a half, how long does it take for them to settle. I have only driven it maybe a mile though.

Is there a chance the springs were installed upside down? I remember seeing people saying the Koni instructions showed the springs in the wrong way.

Not a chance. The springs are directional. If they are on upside down, they don't sit on the spring perch.

Now this I did notice, in order for them to sit properly on the perch, and I don't know if you had to as well, Joey, but I had to have mine rotated 180* from the stock spring location... not sure if that would make a difference

The springs are not upside down. Yup the bottom of the spring is not in the stock location, rather it is the opposite side. I wonder if I attempted to get it in the stock location if that would drop it a little bit because the perch is on an angle and it will probably make a .1" difference. Not worth it probably.
BTW you can put the spring on the perch upside down, I know this from experence.
