I just got my Koni reds installed on my car. While we were doing the install we lost a bolt that holds the strut from the bottom (front) which we ended up having to buy from the dealer, after hours of looking. Nonetheless, I took my car for a ride after the install and couldnt believe my mind. I started to hear something that sounded like medal grinding against medal. After awhile the sound went away, however the next morning when I took my car for a drive at around 30 km/h, the front left tire locked up. So I get out of the car, look around, jack it up, and still couldnt tell why it was locking up (surely it had nothing to do with the koni install, or did it?).
After I got the car towed home, I started to look around furthur and removed parts through a process of elimination. After removing, the caliper this is what I found...
the car!!
the strut!
And the ugly, deformed, texas chainsaw massacre'ish bolt!
This bolt, was actually stuck in between the caliper, or cv joint, or the rotor (couldve been in the same place it is in the pic, inside the rotor)...there was enough pressure to completly deform it. Now, my car is making a weird noise which gets louder and quicker as I increase the speed. I dont know what it is, but Im guessing I screwed up my rotor some how (its like a ticking noise) or possibly my drive shaft or cv joint (i dont know)
Word of advice, you can never be too careful..and if you lose a bolt...FIND IT or give up!
p.s any suggestions on the ticking noise coming from the left wheel, does my rotor look bad enough to make that noise, I can almost gurantee it was not like that before the koni install.
I should also add, that i did not remove the rotor or caliper when I did the konis, so I dont know how it ended up in between that area, but it did!
got behind the spindle somehow?
Check your wheel bearing.

Wheel bearing would make it tick? I remember the wheel hub bearing hummed?
We searched and searched and searched some more but nothing. I wouldn't have expected to see what I did but it was a relief to find the problem to say the least.
we found the problem, turns out I got a nail in the tire, and the head was sticking out like my irric**d ****..... I wont go there lol!...anyway, problem fixed, yeyyyyyy!
