how to you test a brake caliper

can you test a brake caliper when its off the car and completely disconnected? i was thinking i might be able to use my air compressor to check for leaks.

If you think the seal is bad replace it. Pull the piston out, just pulls out. There's a rubber seal in a grove in the caliper, it just pulls out (may be stuck). Get a replacement and put it back together. Brake fluid is your friend for putting it back together.

thanks man, its actually the dodge stuff, for the rear swap, they look almost new, it looked like the pad were just changed before it was junked. the car wasn't there yesterday and was this morning so it just arrived. i was planing on replacing anything rubber anyway. so this is good.

sorry for the run on, brain got baked out there today in the heat, gotta love Florida.
