rear drum problems

This might be a stupid question but do the rear drums need to be balanced? Im asking because i replace the drums recently and now im experiencing some vibration from the rear.. On the original drums there were what looked like balancing weights only on the driver side drum and no weights on the replacement drums whatsoever.. Thanks in advance..

No, why would i do that? The new drums are from autozone and neither of the new drums has weights on them so i dont think it would matter which one was on which side... Heres another question.. after the drums are installed should there be any drag on the drums or should it spin freely? I know they are self adjusting but i read something that said there should be a very small amount of drag.. so thats how i installed it.. this may be the cause of my vibration..

Nevermind, i got it.. i just adjusted them so there was no drag at all.. the went forward and reverse a few times applying the brakes.. worked like a charm.. Thanks for the input.

No, they are supposed to have a small amount of drag. I don't understand how this would cause a problem unless your shoes are un evenly worn or something.. I don't know, but it does need to have some kind of drag.

the rear drums are not self adjusting unfortunately, only the disc brakes in the front. As ling said there should be some drag. There is currently and active thread in the Suspension and Brake forum on how to adjust them properly.
