wet weather braking

I posted once before on how crappy my 05 Cavalier is braking in the rain. From what I gather it's a j-body thing. What have some of you done to make it better braking in wet weather. Currently I'm sporting stock tires, rotors and pads. Thanks!

I upgraded to a set of Baer Decela-rotors, Hawk HP pads, and Russell stainless lines from the Turbo Tech GP a while back. I don't seem to have a problem braking anymore, especially in wet weather.

Hmm never really had trouble breaking in the rain. Just have to break softer and sooner. But yeah I'm sure upgrading would help too.

I've never had a car that braked this bad when it was wet. I've owned an '85 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, '91 Chevy Lumina, '98 Ford Escort ZX2, '03 Dodge Neon, and a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am and none of them had as drastic a change in the rain as the Cavalier. I'm thinking of going with the kit from Gravana soon. My wife is probably getting sick of me complain about it.

Ive got Cermaic pads, and was told that ceramic's absorb water, thus the bad braking. I would assume slotted rotors would help with water buildup on the pad, and better tires. Tires have quite a lot to do with braking believe it or not.

Any performance pads will make a world of difference.
Ender: Whoever told you ceramic pads absorb water didn't know what they were talking about, or you misunderstood them.

I've got a old Honda CB650 bike with single disc up front, drum in the back. Holy @^*% you don't wann know how bad the brakes are in the rain. Aside from a brake upgrade just take it a little easier in the rain.

Yea, I do give extra distance. But I'm mostly concerned with someones dog running in the road or someone cutting me off on the highway and slamming on their brakes. The damn rain in NH needs to end!!!!!!!! this blows!

yea I hate my cav in the rain. It's a joke. the pedal gets spongey and I have to hit it a couple times to clean it off to get it to actually wanna stop. I have had this on my 92 cavalier and my 2001. Also the other thing I have noticed as how the weather is damp my rear brakes like to grab kind of hard. my 92 cavalier used to lock up the rear brakes as did my 86 sunbird.
