Addco new design rear sway bar ...pics....soon

Basically a prelim on the new/revised/updated designed sway bar from Addco.

Thanks to NEA for the good deal on it.

In a nutshell basically, think 25.4mm version of the RK Sport/Eibach rear sway bar.
Near identical design, length , and size.
But the bar itself is 1 inch thick.

Got the black bushings this time.
The end links are using slightly longer than 1/2 inch sleeve/spacer
And they supply a bolt to replace the rear shock bolt.
(But I probably won't use it)

I'll ty to get the pics and everything p over this weekend so people can see.

As for the stret driving comparison, that will take some time but will be done.

Thanks for reading,
-M

I am confused as to how the rear goes on, one way the bar is hitting the actual trailing arm (middle piece sort of sitting inside the arm), the other way the endlinks do not seem to be able to be attached. I have pics of my problems and will post them unless you can post your installation pics.

Well basically....

Addco is using the same boxes as the old style bars...
And..
The included instructions is wrong.

They stamped them with this 'revision 2003 blah blah) stamp.
But negelcted to change the pic for the installation.
Oppps.

But with t hese bars, the middle 'D' bushings install 'hump side down'.
Endlink bolts attach to the strut. You can reuse the strut bolt or use the one they provide.

Pros old: the bar is tucked away better. (nitpick)
Pros new: No drilling

Cons Old: Drilling
Cons New: Doesn't tuck awayas well. (nitpick)

I figured it out... makes sense now that the D/middle attachments stick out, not into the arm.

Thats what I did, used the stock GM one.

Yep or the bar will hit the axle. The instructions are not correct.

you have to use the supplied bolt for the strut , the stock 1 isnt long enough

^^^

Also,
I meant RK never supplied a longer bolt and worked no problem.

And these brackets are about the same thickness so I don't see what the problem should be.

Either way I'll try to get pics of everything.

Boss wants to clean the house though and the kids need watched over.
Bleh.

This installs identically to the Eibach bar, doesn't it?

I think I'll stick to my old school Addco since it is easier to mount a bracket for a tie bar. Definatley a good design change for people that don't like drilling though.

How is it more difficult to add a tie bar to the new design? My Control FX bar goes on just fine.

To WW, yes, install exactly like the RK or rear 22mm Eibach bar.

I have the old school on now with tie bars I can snap a pic and get up just for reference if anyone is interested.

I see youre runnin in street prepared, i thought tie-bars werent legal in sp. Also, i dont see how it would be any harder to mount a tie bar to the new design. Make a new bracket, bolt it in place, and now the bar would go directly between the shocks.

My tie bar replaces the spacers with heim joints, I will snap pics if necessary but I am sure people know what I am talking about.

They are legal. I think it will be harder to fit a bracket behind the factory bolt because the edge of the housing is rounded out and will prevent a decent size bracket from fitting flat against it. Here is a pic of how I modified my control fx tie bar (thanks to Event for the idea):

Normally, the tie bar would be mounted between two of the bushings on the sway bar.
